I realise now that I need to stop expecting rewards out of surviving tough situations. The reward is resilience… so you can survive tougher situations. That’s just how life is.

Yes there’s rarely a gold star or medal to commemorate the trauma. The reward is typically additional challenge. If lucky there’s at least some variety.
