In your workplace do you approach women to try and make conversation that isn't strictly work-related?
I do not. My job (rail operations) is male dominated at ground level but there are lot more women being employed now.
I find it difficult if not impossible to approach any of them (except those already in my workgroup who I know pretty well) for conversation, even if work related, because I'm so worried I only have to say or do something perceived to be 'incorrect' to result in being reported to HR (which is run by all women - as most HR dept's are).
I usually just keep to myself and unless I actually need to carry out work tasks with others, I tend not to have much or any communication.
How is your workplace? If you're a guy, do you feel comfortable talking to women in your workplace? Does it make any difference if you're married or in a relationship already, or not?
I am worried that because I'm single I could be perceived as being inappropriate simply by being in the same vicinity if someone felt I was doing something wrong. I'm super-anxious all the time because of the fear of false allegations.
