I need to get off my behind, and go on a "real" vacation. The last one was Yellowstone, if I recall, yet in 2018, if I recall.
Yet I did go visit my family out of state (twice), though. But those were not really "vacations".
Covid forced me to cancel a 2020 vacation to Yosemite. Then I waited. When things opened up again, I could not decide where to go (I did not want to go to Yosemite since it was the wrong season).
Then I got sick, was in the hospital and rehab, and could not walk without a walker. My strength is mostly back, yet I am still unsteady. Yet I can drive long distances. I think I could handle a flight. But not a lot of walking. I should ask for one if those airport golf carts LOL! Yet the building where I work is larger than some satellite airports I have been too! It even has a long concourse. Yet no moving walkway.
I just hope sticker shock won't turn me off from travel. It has been a while since I searched for flights, hotels, and cars.
I still forced myself to take time off from work these past few years. I plan to take a week off in April, for instance. But the past few years I've mostly just stayed in town. Yet I took day trips.
The longest staycation I have been on (as an adult) was actually last fall during the government shutdown (I work for them). I started driving farther and farther every day, yet still returned to sleep in my own bed. I saw areas of central PA that I'd never been to before. Such lovely mountains and valleys.
Yet maybe in April I will just focus on apartment hunting. Or maybe condo hunting? I have until June to decide to stay put, or move. I have lived at my current place since 2009. Time for a change, and an upgrade, perhaps.

@JoyfulSilence How about this year taking a week off and go look around one of the two.

Maybe not this year. I planned to take off some time late summer, and it could be too hot there.
Of course, perhaps that is a reason not to move there! (Duh)
But maybe some northern, or more hilly parts?
I just want a mild winter and no humidity. Yet no scorching summer heat, too. I need warm, dry paradise! No sweating. No heat stroke. Maybe California, instead?

@JoyfulSilence The taxes, fee's and over all cost of living in California is just too high for a retired person. ☹ Arizona would be much better for you financially.

Are you excited about it? That’s the first step.
I’m trying to lower my expectations about everything in life this year. Trying to live in the moment.

@Younameit I'm more petrified Bec I feel unworthy to date. I have crippling PTSD and I'm sure many would ditch me if I couldn't do a lot of date like excursions 😕 But there's a guy at a place I frequent and he seems to now recognize my voice when i order and is very kind. That makes me feel excited, even for a min.
