What would you like to get excited about?

In your life, this year...🌹♥

I want to not be afraid of dating or finding love, but be excited to find it.

I need to get off my behind, and go on a "real" vacation. The last one was Yellowstone, if I recall, yet in 2018, if I recall.

Yet I did go visit my family out of state (twice), though. But those were not really "vacations".

Covid forced me to cancel a 2020 vacation to Yosemite. Then I waited. When things opened up again, I could not decide where to go (I did not want to go to Yosemite since it was the wrong season).

Then I got sick, was in the hospital and rehab, and could not walk without a walker. My strength is mostly back, yet I am still unsteady. Yet I can drive long distances. I think I could handle a flight. But not a lot of walking. I should ask for one if those airport golf carts LOL! Yet the building where I work is larger than some satellite airports I have been too! It even has a long concourse. Yet no moving walkway.

I just hope sticker shock won't turn me off from travel. It has been a while since I searched for flights, hotels, and cars.

I still forced myself to take time off from work these past few years. I plan to take a week off in April, for instance. But the past few years I've mostly just stayed in town. Yet I took day trips.

The longest staycation I have been on (as an adult) was actually last fall during the government shutdown (I work for them). I started driving farther and farther every day, yet still returned to sleep in my own bed. I saw areas of central PA that I'd never been to before. Such lovely mountains and valleys.

Yet maybe in April I will just focus on apartment hunting. Or maybe condo hunting? I have until June to decide to stay put, or move. I have lived at my current place since 2009. Time for a change, and an upgrade, perhaps.

@JoyfulSilence Those are awesome things to be excited about. I have not taken a vacation in seven years now. I really want to get away, even just a state away maybe. But I've been watching my every dime unemployed, so I really couldn't go more than overnight somewhere. But I think I would like that, we only live one short life!! If I win the lottery, I'm going to Barbados!!! Lol
I hope you can choose a nice vacay spot for April 🌻

@JoyfulSilence You know me, I definitely vote for a vacation. Go somewhere and enjoy. I don't care if you drive. Just go have fun. 🙂🙂🙂

I definitely vote for buying instead of renting. Rents go up and your retirement is close. No bill's are a very good thing in retirement.

@Baybreeze

I should start planning. But I think I will just stay in town. It would be too cold in the Rockies, anyway. The weather will be nice here, though.

I plan to take time off in August or September. Perhaps then I can plan a grand vacation in the mountains.

Right now I am in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. It is chilly but sunny.

I likely will stay in town. April is lovely here.

As for buying, I will have to decide if it is worth it. I would like to retire in 5 years and then move away. I do not want to be tied down. Also, I do not want to do any maintenance or yard work, LOL!

@JoyfulSilence I can understand that on both accounts. Day trips or maybe even an overnighter can be quite fun. 🙂

Any ideas where you would like to live when you retire?

@Musicman

Maybe Arizona or New Mexico?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@JoyfulSilence How about this year taking a week off and go look around one of the two.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@Musicman

Maybe not this year. I planned to take off some time late summer, and it could be too hot there.

Of course, perhaps that is a reason not to move there! (Duh)

But maybe some northern, or more hilly parts?

I just want a mild winter and no humidity. Yet no scorching summer heat, too. I need warm, dry paradise! No sweating. No heat stroke. Maybe California, instead?

@JoyfulSilence The taxes, fee's and over all cost of living in California is just too high for a retired person. ☹ Arizona would be much better for you financially.
