Something most people don't speak about ...

Cassandra syndrome . Being with a neurodivergent person when you are not . And having a family who is also neurodivergent. . There is support for the people but not the one poor person who has to deal with them all the time. The rejection . The being ignored and neglected and the abuse. Therapists will make excuses for them but what about the poor child abused by them ?
And I am saying by no means that all people on the spectrum are abusive .
But the ones who are .... It's not an excuse to torture people .

There are so many things I don't agree with you are saying

My daughter is on the spectrum. She is not a bully or abusive to her bother or in any way

And there is tons of support out there for someone who lives with a person of needs. My boy gets counseling twice a month just to make sure he's feeling his important and just a special as his siblings.

If your therapist is making you feel that way you need to find a new one.

Sorry this is a very touchy topic for me
@Cigarguy101 I said very directly that I was saying by no means is every person on the spectrum abusive . I guess you missed that sentence.

@Cigarguy101

You're twisting her content. Much like what that girl did in your posts accusing you of being abusive towards your children.

Excessively injecting your feelings pretty much exacerbates misunderstandings.

She is talking about a specific situation where being on the spectrum is used as a justification for child neglect. Also where the abuser is atypical and the abused can't access support.

These situations do exist. Your own life doesn't really reflect every life out there.
@Miram Thank you for understanding me. 🌻🩷
My brother, I believe, is a very high-functioning "Aspie". Our youngest sister is schizophrenic. I suffer from clinical depression. I believe our middle sister is that "normal" one who navigates among us. She and I are probably the closest; she has never complained about mistreatment or abuse from us—and I believe she would. She’s pretty honest about what she doesn’t understand. I suspect it factored into her career as a school counselor. 🙂
@bijouxbroussard I have family members on the spectrum too that I love dearly. They are not abusive.
Yeah people pretty much just let what they hear first, define a person. An individual who abuses or neglects someone else, in the eyes of public opinion is just someone who needs to be punished.

But a person who was diagnosed with something and abuses or neglects someone else just needs help.

Both need to be taken into account no matter which one came first. The diagnosis, or the behavior.

I know what you mean because my dad has borderline PD. People really have no idea how to take the bigger picture into account instead of judging one moment.

Neurodivergent does not only mean on the spectrum. And not at all abusive. You can still delete this post. Just saying..
@tiltawhirl Did you read it in its entirety ? Because if you did I am doubtful about your reading comprehension. I will delete nothing it is my own experience.

@SpiritSkye I skimmed through it because tbh it’s not worth my time.

High functioning people on the spectrum make a choice to be abusive, and I say that as one. If someone has the capacity to know right from wrong, then it isn’t an excuse at all.
@SwampFlower Thank you lovely. I appreciate you . 🫂

I'm not sure what neurodivergent means.

@basilfawlty89 My middle brother is ADHD & when he was little, he was wide open. He's pretty calm & collected now but he does get rattled sometimes & goes into this thing where he just shuts down completely.

@Tumbleweed I understand.
I just meant that ND doesn't only mean Autism Spectrum.

I've strongly been suspected of having Adult ADHD (inattentive variety) by multiple therapists. Never officially diagnosed though.

Officially I have OCD and Depression.

@basilfawlty89 I have anxiety issues which causes me to become a bit unhinged sometimes :(

@DearAmbellina2113 You seem to be one of the few that understood what I meant . Thank you .🩷

@SpiritSkye I have a brother with ADHD, and my current bf has ADHD. I work with MANY autistic people as well. It's taxing and stressful a lot of the time. I totally understand.

Here is less sweeter version of this to step on toes
