@Firestarter thank you

4meAndyou · F
I had to get a recent copy of my birth certificate a few years ago. All I had was a photo of a photo negative and that's all I had for most of my life.

So I sent away to the state where I was born, sent them $25, told them where I THOUGHT my records might have been originally, because the hospital where I was born was torn down, and 6 weeks later I had an official birth certificate with the state seal. I included a copy of a photo ID and my then current address.

If those folks sent you a COPY of your birth certificate via email, you can print it out and send it to the state where you were born along with a copy of your driver's license.

CALL the State offices first to find out if they need anything else, to avoid frustration.

@4meAndyou No they asked me to send them a copy, which of course i don't have, I don't know where i was born .

@4meAndyou @kodiac We did the same thing to get a certified copy of our marriage license. They didn't ask for any ID. It was all over the phone and a credit or debit card.

Gather as much info as you can about yourself obviously you have your dob, your name (although that doesn't seem to help) what about your place of birth? Anything else you can get? Try searching the net, your birth must be registered, is there a US (I'm guessing that's where you are) government site for births, deaths, marriages. Sometimes you have to do other people's jobs for them if you want a result.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@GeniUs Well right now I'm not sure about anything not even my birthday. Things like birthdays get lost living in foster. I thought about trying one of those dna sites but they all want a name and apparently foster says it's not my name
How do they not know who you are???

You'll know your placements, so, all they need to do is take some of that data... cross reference it for a boy of the same name and date of birth as you and see what comes out.

Of course, it's possible that your name and date of birth could have been changed and you not remember because you were too young or traumatised to recall it, but it should still be in their records if they ever did their jobs.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@HootyTheNightOwl I agree i gave them 3 names abd they told me they can't release info on foster families. They don't want to help .I'm seriously thinking about going public with how the system works others have but no one pays attention to throw away kids
@kodiac Maybe that's what it might take???

It's possible that someone else might see your struggle and be able to step in to help you to at least find out the details you need to be able to get a copy of your birth certificate.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@HootyTheNightOwl I'm just not sure how to go about it other than posting online

Iam going thru the same thing since I moved states. I can’t even get a state ID ecause they can’t prove who I am. There is a ton of things that they require to get it. 😧
kodiac · 22-25, M
@tobynshorty Yes! I hope you have better luck than i am
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@kodiac it’s just getting worse. Today I found out that one of my bank accounts had been gone into without my knowledge or permission in 2017 and used ATM and even had a dispute with the bank. They took money but I’m sure I will get it back.
kodiac · 22-25, M
Thanks everyone for your responses, storm knocked out my internet so I'm late responding.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@kodiac just wondering can you find anything on US Census?
Can they trust a driver license?

Probably over the phone isn't the best, and it's possible she misspelled it.

I wonder if they could look up by birthday
kodiac · 22-25, M
@sstronaut I can't get a driver license without an id of some sort .Every where i turn it's a dead end
@kodiac Write your politicians, one of their offices MIGHT like to help.

And make sure they were spelling your name right into their computer
Iwillwait · M
I am so sorry Brother.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Iwillwait Thanks bro
exchrist · 31-35
Usually the hospital you were born at has a birth certificate and\or the town\city hall of the place you were born. Try that.
exchrist · 31-35
@kodiac thats a start had you changed state by then?
kodiac · 22-25, M
@exchrist I don't know but i moved around a lot after age 8. When you have like 14 or more placements it's hard to even keep track of their names .
exchrist · 31-35
@kodiac my ma was a social worker in a few such cases. Ill ask her what shed recommend. Ill get back to you.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
Don't give up, it exists somewhere, and you Definitely exist🌻
kodiac · 22-25, M

@masterofyou I kinda agree, but people need some kind of id to do so much stuff. I could get medical coverage for one thing, that i really need
Musicman · 61-69, M
I am so sorry ☹ You definitely don't deserve this. Don't you have a case manager? Maybe talk to that person.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@kodiac Im sorry, but that is just wrong. Do you remember any of the people you stayed with. Maybe they could give you a social workers name. 🤷‍♂
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Musicman I do a few but I'd only contact them as a last resort and i doubt they would help me
Musicman · 61-69, M
@kodiac All you need is the name of the case worker. You are not asking to move back in. Otherwise talk to a free lawyer and let them sue the state. You could even make a few dollars that way.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
I wonder would the police be able to locate it?
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Coralmist lol as many times that they drug me back to fosters when i ran away you'd think they would have something really rather not deal with cops
