To say yes would seem to be egotistic. It would certainly go against my character, but I have nobody who is totally dependent on me.
So, to answer the question honestly - No, hearts won't shatter.
I'm sure my family would initially be upset and miss me, maybe one or two friends might also miss me, but all their lives will go on, as millions of people's lives have before us.

Brain lesions make it impossible to focus and the things I love keep getting taken away from me. I'm just so out of steam for dealing with this.

I mean if it is some pain in the butt relative then it is one thing if no one cares but most of us are decent people.
I think what it is about having a hard time finding friends is that once we are grown it is like people re so wrapped up in their own lives.
