To say yes would seem to be egotistic. It would certainly go against my character, but I have nobody who is totally dependent on me.
So, to answer the question honestly - No, hearts won't shatter.
I'm sure my family would initially be upset and miss me, maybe one or two friends might also miss me, but all their lives will go on, as millions of people's lives have before us.
