The day after Christmas has kind of a strange feeling.

I was leaving for work and a couple of my neighbors were already putting away their outdoor Christmas decorations, and the radio stations I listen in the car to had gone back to their normal playlists like they usually do.

I guess the best way I could describe it is a feeling like, "[Sigh] Well, that's all, folks. Time to go back to normal life" after all the hustle and bustle and fun of Christmas day. I do kind of struggle with depression especially this time of year, so maybe that might be some of it.

I always wait until after New Years Eve before taking the decorations down, it feels more complete this way as a Holiday season to me.

Traditionally Christmas is not just a day but a season. It should last till the 6th January.
It’s annoying that radio stations. Including ones that should know better stop.
But I guess the shops and multinationals need us to buy new year stuff now.

That's crazy. I think the whole point of Christmas decorations, especially lights, is to make dark days more comfortable. Most people keep them at least until January 1st, but I hate when they put them away then too. It's still dark, why not keeping them while days are still short? This is why January is so depressing but it really doesn't need to.

We keep the tree and lights at least till January 6 but usually longer.

@CrazyMusicLover My husband and I usually keep our tree and decorations up until the first week of January. We just slowly take our time taking everything down, no rush needed. There's been at least a couple times though where we had taken everything else down, but ended up leaving the tree up as late as February.

@Rose0415 If a live tree, it can become a fire hazard.

Same here, after today all Christmas stuff will be put away . But turkey sandwich’s will prevail for a couple days.

@jackson55 I'm thinking of making some kind of pasta salad and adding some leftover turkey to it.

@Rose0415 We have leftover pumpkin pie some I had for breakfast. Leftover turkey will last a day or two.
Like the neighbor who has the tree on the curb by 10 the next morning. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Very anticlimactic.
I think the Victorians had it right, with their 12 days of Christmas celebration.

I've hardly felt Christmas at all so far this year, which isn't a complaint, it's an achievement 👍

Felt… feels sort of hollow and drab once it’s over… with long months of winter ahead.

I saw valentine's candy in the aisles a week ago. What is even happening.
Everything Christmas comes down today at my house too.

Yeah I get it. All this build up and it's over after 24 hours

We keep lights up for dark winter days.
