Yes...and no. Always be honest about the important things and stay out of jail, divorce court, and do try to hold onto your job.

BUT...lying to be kind to someone asking you how they look...(and they look like sh!t), or lying to a child about Santa...are all lies you SHOULD tell.

@Sojournersoul You must have been SO mad at your parents...(about Santa). 🤭

Honesty can save us from worry and stress and lead us to success in life. It's so worth it.
Of course. Nothing worse than lying to someone.

Honesty keeps you from having to remember different versions of the past which leads to clear recollection and a clean conscience. When you're honest, you can speak freely without worrying about exposing any "skeletons."

I believe that when you waste memory on lies, it displaces real memories of actual events that really occurred. They take a lower priority because you're not worried about being questioned about the truth, but over time, after many lies, it all must get so confusing.

Ultimately, I'm not one who ever wants to get caught in a lie. For me, it's cowardly. Since all lies must be connected to the truth at some point, and the truth is already connected to the truth at all points, it's only a matter of time before a lie comes into question. The only way to avoid it is to not tell lies. ..even if you're dishonest, don't lie about it.

I mean, if you get caught cheating, don't lie about it. If you get caught stealing, don't lie about it. Lying only makes things worse

I choose honesty.
Though it is becoming clearer to me that I do not always need to speak it or speak up about it. I can just hold back and let things land where they may.

@SW-User that is wise of you.

It depends on the how. If used unsolicited as an attack, no. If compassionate and with little or no attachment, usually yes.

The thing I have found is alot of people claim 'honesty' when they are not honest with the purpose or intent. That kind of 'honesty' rings true, but is not truth.

Honesty is of course as everyone knows the best policy but price of it could be bitter and if bitterness consumes you then that is when honesty looses it's meaning.

Not as often as I thought it was growing up. Life can be less stressful in the grey.
Yes, juggling lies takes too much work and tends to be exhausting.

there is things that might be true but are better left unsaid

Honesty is great as long as it’s not given disrespectfully
The ugly truth is always better than a beautiful lie.
