My Son's hamster died yesterday

I bought a Syrian hamster for my son in June 2021. We weren't sure of his age when we got him. We named him Clover. He proved to be a good pet not only to my son but he was also good therapy for his mother who has struggled with emotional and psychological issues. She too enjoyed looking after Clover, keeping care of him and what not. Yesterday he was showing signs of being weak and dehydrated and by 5pm we determined he had passed away. This was one of the few times in the last 15 -20 years I've shed a tear over anything. It was difficult for the three of us losing our hamster Clover.

They are sweet little pets. Was told they only live 2 years. My daughter brought one home from school to take care of during the summer for the science teacher. I bought a hamster ball for it and he chased the cat all around the apartment every day.

{@railfan1984] sorry to here that it may of been a hamster but it is part of your family and you love it as much as you would any other family member . so what i say too you is have no shame of shedding a tear for poor clover

Its always sad to lose a pet 馃様 at least you gave your family some good memories with the little guy. And gave him a good loving home.

They are dear little things. i have kept a couple in my time, But they don't live very long. That doesn't make their passing any easier.
