My Son's hamster died yesterday

I bought a Syrian hamster for my son in June 2021. We weren't sure of his age when we got him. We named him Clover. He proved to be a good pet not only to my son but he was also good therapy for his mother who has struggled with emotional and psychological issues. She too enjoyed looking after Clover, keeping care of him and what not. Yesterday he was showing signs of being weak and dehydrated and by 5pm we determined he had passed away. This was one of the few times in the last 15 -20 years I've shed a tear over anything. It was difficult for the three of us losing our hamster Clover.
