Is it possible to connect and be comfortable in every type of social circle?

If you are comfortable you feel no need to connect further. If you need to connect you are not comfortable.

Connect -- in the sense of having rational discussion, trying to learn about each other, find common ground -- yes. Be comfortable? Not entirely. You have an ingrained flight or fight warning system for a reason.

Absolutely not. It simply means you are trying hard to please all others. Be comfortable with your self. If it's not your type of social circle, be silent, be polite and than walk away.
