Has anyone had whiplash from a car accident?

I was rear ended in December 2024. By two vehicles.
At the time I didn't feel any pain but two days later, pretty acute neck pain ensued. It was daily, and into the shoulder area too. I went to a chiropractor to get treatment, and it did help. But fast forward eight months, and I still get pains every couple days.
I guess it says online if whiplash lasts longer than six months it's referred to as chronic whiplash.
Anyone experience this longer than six months?

if it lasts long, you need to be evaluated for a subtle neurosurgical problem.

@samueltyler2 Would it show in X-ray? I'm assuming not since Google says X-ray does not show soft tissue or muscle

@samueltyler2 I had an X-ray done recently and that was ok

@Coralmist if you have a problem, a simple x-ray is not sensitive enough to find a potential problem. Even then, sometimes the x-rays are misread. One of my nurses had an x-ray read as normal, when i saw it, i saw a hairline fracture and sent her to a neurosurgeon who immediately put her into a halo. I don't want to frighten you, but you really need to be sure that the physicians you see are competent. I know that I may sound like a typical arrogant MD, but i would not entrsut the care of a neck injury to a chiropractor!

@samueltyler2 No the X ray was done by my PCP office in Radiology department.

@samueltyler2 my treatment was at a chiropractor, and he had initially done a surface EMG, Which showed chronic inflammation months ago. But today, I had severe pain again. Just like in the first month or two. I'm not sure what triggered it. If it continues I'll have to ask my pcp

@Coralmist don't screw around go to your physician. I have no idea what a surface MRI even is!
