Has anyone had whiplash from a car accident?

I was rear ended in December 2024. By two vehicles.
At the time I didn't feel any pain but two days later, pretty acute neck pain ensued. It was daily, and into the shoulder area too. I went to a chiropractor to get treatment, and it did help. But fast forward eight months, and I still get pains every couple days.
I guess it says online if whiplash lasts longer than six months it's referred to as chronic whiplash.
Anyone experience this longer than six months?

Have you tried swimming? I went to massage therapy after my accident. It took about 7 months to recover.

@Muthafukajones I have not tried swimming. But am going to a pool next week..I am going to consider PT soon too.

@Coralmist I would start swimming daily if I were you. Much better than PT

I hope that you are okay?

@Coralmist that I completely understand I’ve had back issues from a work injury 15 years ago

No. My mother had it, I did not. I had surge of adrenaline that seemed to last hours.

@Coralmist I had no pains. Only the adrenaline. I had very fast heart rate.

She had it for a week or so. It seems you have a problem.

@SW-User Oh wow only a week!! Yes I read online whiplash can last months, and even up to a year or more. But I'm not reading any fast or true treatment, just standard massages, chiropractor, or physical therapy. I really hope this goes away

@SW-User My heart raced a bit after being hit too. Glad you're both ok.

if it lasts long, you need to be evaluated for a subtle neurosurgical problem.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@samueltyler2 No the X ray was done by my PCP office in Radiology department.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@samueltyler2 my treatment was at a chiropractor, and he had initially done a surface EMG, Which showed chronic inflammation months ago. But today, I had severe pain again. Just like in the first month or two. I'm not sure what triggered it. If it continues I'll have to ask my pcp

@Coralmist don't screw around go to your physician. I have no idea what a surface MRI even is!

@ShenaniganFoodie Wow you're beyond lucky to be alive, was it a head on collision?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Yes, but not from a car crash.
Headbanging.
Old school Metallica will do that.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@basilfawlty89 Did you feel a pulled muscle at base of neck? How long did yours last?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Coralmist nah. I was kidding.

My mum did have a whiplash from a car accident though. She was rear-ended while parked.
I think she took Lyrica and it helped?
I was about 10 at the time.
