Severe pain in upper arm

Just wondering if anyone has experienced something like this ...I tried to pick up a heavy heavy Bureau the other day and now my upper right arm is killing in severe piercing pain . it is debilitating ..I called about medication over the phone they said Tylenol and Advil but if it continues more than a couple days then see making evaluation appointment. Does anyone know if this could be a torn muscle OR sprained muscle or what and how long it took for you to heal from it ?thanks😢

Probably tore or pulled your intertubercular cynovial sheath which runs from your elbow to your shoulder or maybe your deltiod muscle which can hurt up into your shoulder.
Put heat on it which will increase blood flow to help heal. If you have any good sports rub use some in between heating.

Sounds like it. Yes, it can be either of those. You can put yourself in a brace or sling to let it heal and avoid using it. As long as it is getting better after seven days then you are okay. Flex it so that it doesn’t heal in just one spot.

Now if you can’t MOVE your fingers, or wrist, elbow etc…. At ALL … without severe stabbing pain, yes have it looked at. Strains are a thing. They do take rest and weeks to heal, but if it’s dislocated, it has to be put back, if it’s broken, you need a cast. I’m not a doctor, just have too much eesknalbexperience :-(

Could be a partially torn bicep or detachment

Sorry you are in pain.

Same. Constant pain in my upper arms. Chiropractor did the job. Electo-therapy and massage, cracking of the neck, back and shoulders. Took a couple of weekly sessions.
👍👍🤗🤗❤️❤️

@Montanaman Nice glad that helped. My arm isnt fully healed but much less pain now than last night, which w a s horrible.
I'm still waiting on a rotar tear to get better but I think only surgery will fix it.

@canusernamebemyusername Wife had to do surgery. 6 weeks not lying down flat afterward and 3-6 months getting back closer to normal, but eliminating pain made it worthwhile.

You have torn a muscle. Take it easy for a few weeks no heavy lifting or gymnastics for a while.

It can be a spinal disc in your upper back or neck..... I suffer daily .... and that is my problem..... it is MISERY.

@Whyme Ty for asking🦋

did it begin to hurt while lifting or after?
SW-User
@Coralmist it's going to be about 3 to 6 weeks. 3 weeks to feel mostly normal, up to 6 weeks until you can use it without concern of re-injuring it. but it should only hurt badly for a few days, then moderately for a few more, then minimally for the remainder of the 3 week period. i'm sorry, but you won't be doing your hair anytime soon. just ice it on and off, rest it completely until you notice an improvement, then light, short activity to tolerance. maybe someone can braid your hair for you each day? something, because lifting your arm is not an option rn

@SW-User ughh 3 weeks is a while..but hopefully the pain will lessen each day. I appreciate your help!!

@Coralmist it will, and you're welcome 🤗

You need a doc too

Misty, do you have a dull ache deep in the shoulder, Disturb sleep, difficult to comb your hair or reach behind your back, accompanied by arm weakness ?
SW-User
@Coralmist Babe, I hope it is NOT but it sounds like a torn rotator cuff. It take months to heal

@SW-User The pain is mostly in upper arm, not as much shoulder. Mostly near bicep area.
SW-User
@Coralmist I hope it is not the rotator cuff & only a bicep torn
