Nobody needs to respond

It just helps to write. So that's what I'm going to do. Sorry it's not a shiny happy post but I'm feeling so sad at the moment, I really miss my husband. Life is so empty and alone without him. My body and my mind remembers how he felt, the solid stockiness of his body and the memory of his smell when I would rest my head on his chest in the evening. It was so comforting . I can almost smell him now I'm thinking about it and I feel so sad because it can never be again. I hate having to do life on my own without him. I wish he was here. Right now I really need a hug.

Tight endless warm hug for you.
And a kiss

I understand how you feel. This morning for some reason I looked into a plastic bin in the bathroom that my wife used to stuff things in in her dementia, and it just struck me how she'd never be able to come home and use that bin again. Every day little things remind me that she's no longer here and will never come home from memory-care.

@ChipmunkErnie That is the thing people don't understand about grief, you don't just grieve the person, you grieve the future and all the things you used to do together that can never be again.

I'll respond anyway. Not specifically to you but to anyone who has been bereaved.

It will get easier. I cried every day for at least the first year after my wife died almost nine years ago after we had been together for forty years. But slowly the sharp edges of the grief get worn away. In my case this necessitated a considerable amount of rediscovery and reinvention of myself but I have no idea if that is what works for everyone, or indeed anyone.

She is not forgotten, just not present.

You are expressing your grief. You are hurting. This is a place where you can express yourself genuinely. I pray that God might give you comfort in the loss of your loved one.
