Do you identify particularly as a republican or as a democrat?

It seems most people in the United States don't feel that they strongly match either of the two parties.

Modern politics isn't relatable for actual human beings. Throughout the western world both right wing and "left-wing" parties are both right authoritarian. So when a politician comes along that is actually left, the general public call them soft (with influence by the media, of course).

@BlueMetalChick: you agree with me.. I'm older 😜 haha
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@guriinii: Yes but our opinions formed separately.

@BlueMetalChick: either way, we're right and the world is going backwards

I'm not a registered member of any political party because I like something from both the Democratic and Republican sides. I also dislike something from them as well.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
No, I refuse to vote.. As long as the choice is between a turd sandwich and a giant douchebag I will not vote.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
But I'm not stupid so I won't vote. The president has no power and the parties work together anyway. You really think the Government is dumb enough to let a country mainly populated by idiots to decide what is a good decision? Give me a break. Why do you think presidents barely ever keep their promises? Because they have no power, the system has the power.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: Yes, actually, I do believe the government is that dumb. Half the people holding offices believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old and that a man lived inside a fucking whale for over a decade. The vice president believes smoking cigarettes is not harmful to a person's health. They're pretty goddamn dumb, you realize that, right?
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
The Vice President has no power.. Senates, the workers in congress have the power.. Everything is a joint decision between them but hey you totally have them figured out because of their religion and the court jesters they show you on TV.

I identify as a Democrat, but I also have some less dramatic socialist views and would have gladly voted for Bernie Sanders.
beautyisnature · 31-35, F
I identify as a Canadian, eh
beautyisnature · 31-35, F
I'm so Canadian, I bleed maple syrup!
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@beautyisnature: For some reason, in my home country, there's a stereotype that Americans are all obsessed with BBQ sauce the same way Canadians love maple syrup. We used to make jokes about American people taking showers in barbecue sauce instead of water lol
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
I resemble this statement, i freaking love bbq sauce.
Pfuzylogic · M
Democrat, I see very few Republicans with compassion for the impoverished.
Pfuzylogic · M
@BlueMetalChick: I find you very intelligent and apt to lean so I share what I can with you. The Democrats became defined with the FDR or WW 2 years when the huge programs such as Social Security and Welfare were formed. In 1965 when the Civil Rights legislation was created in response to the peaceful marches of MLK Jr. and John Lewis.
There is only so much money circulating and I don't think everyone can be rich.@hippyjoe1955:

@Lovelldo: Trust me, your logical and rational response isn't going to do any good. He's an avid follower of the philosophy of "If I make something up and pretend really hard, it'll come true."
Carver · 31-35, F
I'm a registered Democrat but I don't really identify as either anymore.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
Registered independent, so nope.
Sacron22 · 56-60, M
Democrat, so I can vote in primary elections. But i'm much more in the Bernie Sanders camp.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
So kind of a softcore socialist? I dig it. I think people need to stop being afraid of that part of the spectrum.
Sacron22 · 56-60, M
@BlueMetalChick: Yes. 'Soft-core Socialist' is a good term. It fits me. It's difficult for me to see the poverty and anguish here in our wonderful country. And I believe the Federal Government should play a large role in alleviating social problems.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
I am a Labour Party member and I feel a bit closer to the Democrats, particularly the Sanders wing; who I would support where I living in America.
Tatsumi · 31-35, M
I qualify myself as a democratic socialist. I identify with democrats in most things; but, I consider myself an independent.
MrSpecialEnough · 22-25, M
I identify with German national socialism from the 1930's-40's.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
A lot of people might actually think you're serious cos they don't know what that means XD
Heartlander · 80-89, M
I'm independent, leaning libertarian. Seriously anti-Democrat.

I don't like team politics or the idea of a government within a government. Neither party represent even a fraction of the people, but Democrats are bound at the hip, willing to jump off the cliff together so they'll make a bigger splash.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I've always been an independent.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Am a democrat and loved bernie!
I'm a Democratic.
xRedx · M
Eh, Democrats or Republicans, what's the point. They want you to pick one or the other, for a specific reason.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
It made more sense when the parties were only mildly corrupt.
xRedx · M
Perhaps, but not even. It's a broken system.

Liberal. Unorthodoxed. I believe in the basic fundamentals of American democracy. Not politically dogmatic. But fair minded and I do vote across party lines.
