Do you identify particularly as a republican or as a democrat?

It seems most people in the United States don't feel that they strongly match either of the two parties.

No, I refuse to vote.. As long as the choice is between a turd sandwich and a giant douchebag I will not vote.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
That defeats the entire point of a system in which people can vote.
If you don't make an effort to pick the best candidate, you let them win. You no longer have a voice. It's like you're forfeiting your rights.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Lovelldo: Technically, not voting makes you an idiot. And that's not an insult. The word "idiot" was invented by the Romans, and was used to describe someone who had the right to vote but did not. That was an absolute democracy though, not a representative one.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
What is the point in me bothering when all you idiots do it for me?.. You have to decide between two retards and I get to laugh when your choice inevitably fucks up.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: I can't vote because I'm not a legal citizen. I'm a war refugee seeking asylum. You won't be laughing when other people's choices fuck up because they're fucking you up too. In fact, they're fucking you up worse than they are everyone else.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
Not really because believe it or not whatever you choose has the same outcome. Parties work together and presidents are puppets.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: For that matter, democracy is a broken system as we might as well have a king.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
Which is why I don't vote.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: Do you support a democratic government?
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
If there was a true democracy where I felt my vote mattered then yes.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: Then you're a hypocrite.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
At least I'm not stupid and how did you gather that I am a hypocrite? I never told others not to vote, I just said I won't.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: If you believe you should not vote because voting does not count, then you shouldn't support a democratic system. Which isn't a bad thing. It's not the only form of government in the world.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
Do you even know what democracy is? I'm beginning to wonder. I won't support a broken corrupt democracy that doesn't mean I don't believe in the freedom to vote.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: And how else do you expect to fix a broken system?
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
That's the thing, you cannot. Unless you are the next Fidel Castro, which would be a disaster anyway.

I never said I'd fix the broken system but unlike idiots that vote, I don't contribute to it.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: If it doesn't matter one way or another then how does voting make them an idiot if they aren't changing anything at all? You make it sound as if they're doing more damage than you are by not voting. If your vote doesn't count, then you won't be doing anything at all by abstaining.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
They're idiots because they think their vote makes a difference.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: There is one, and only one, thing that you can do to affect who is elected to positions of power in the United States currently. You can cast a vote. That is just about the only thing you can do. Even if it makes almost zero difference...it's still the single thing you can do to at least try to have some kind of influence.
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
But I'm not stupid so I won't vote. The president has no power and the parties work together anyway. You really think the Government is dumb enough to let a country mainly populated by idiots to decide what is a good decision? Give me a break. Why do you think presidents barely ever keep their promises? Because they have no power, the system has the power.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@iWantSwCoins: Yes, actually, I do believe the government is that dumb. Half the people holding offices believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old and that a man lived inside a fucking whale for over a decade. The vice president believes smoking cigarettes is not harmful to a person's health. They're pretty goddamn dumb, you realize that, right?
iWantSwCoins · 26-30, M
The Vice President has no power.. Senates, the workers in congress have the power.. Everything is a joint decision between them but hey you totally have them figured out because of their religion and the court jesters they show you on TV.
