Do you view yourself as an 'old soul'?

My sister called me this once and she never elaberated on why. I thought maybe it was because I have always been an introvert, preferring solitude in my own company. I can be overly sensitive and perceive things in a different way to others. I certainly never see eye to eye with my sister.
People associate the old soul concept with reincarnation, believing they have lived many life times and accumulated wisdom over time. I personally do not see the point in this belief.
So what does it mean to you?

Maybe what was meant by 'old soul' is a quiet, wise person who can be happy with herself, enjoying nature and books.
That may not sound glamorous but those who have experienced it, find it a better way of life.
Enjoy, & spread the light

I have been called "an old soul", I think what most people refer to as an old soul is a greater level of maturity and reasoning. I don't believe in reincarnation or an accumulation of knowledge from inhabiting previous persons in the past.

Take it as a compliment to your level of maturity.

## Discussions about the soul are complex, with many perspectives. I believe the soul does not accumulate wisdom or anything else. ##

When someone calls you an 'old soul', they usually mean you demonstrate maturity, introspection, and perceptiveness beyond your years. It may also refer to your intelligence, depth of thought, or your ability to relate to experienced individuals. They’re not saying that you possess multisensory perception, which I think would be a completely different level.

My 8 y/o is an 'old soul'. She's way too insightful. I think it's awesome.

It might have meant that you act like someone older than yourself. Less adventurous, playful, fun than most people your age.
It's not necessarily a bad thing because it could mean you are more mature which by default means less childish.
Teslin · M
I've been called the same.
Not sure if it is a good or bad thing ?
oldsoulcharm · 31-35, FNew
@Teslin Probably good in it's own way. I like the thought of it.
Teslin · M
@oldsoulcharm I agree
people have called me that before. I dunno that I put much stock into the notion, but I don't think it's bad to be thought of as such.
YoMomma ·
To me it means extra mature

Im more carefree like a teenager despite being over 40
Mudkip · 31-35, M
I think being matured for one's age and perceptive are some of the things an old soul has.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I was called that even as a child, now I am just old
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
Old soul with a young heart, mind and body.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
Does anyone ever say a person has a young soul...I mean it's like "the old soul" thing is the only one anybody ever speaks of.
oldsoulcharm · 31-35, FNew
@FloorGenAdm There' a thought - to have a young soul. It could refer to someone who is relatively new to experiencing life is still learning and growing through their experiences, although the latter can be applied to all of us whatever age we may be. I like to think I still will be learning new things at 90, hopefully, the way my grandfather did.
Older, sometimes wiser. 🙂
