Atheists, when is the last time you were happy in life?

Do you have any special strategies to cheer yourselves up?

I often wonder how non astrologers feel happy

I'm happy most of the time, even though this year has been extremely difficult.

Growing up and being raised by atheist parents and grandparents I don’t remember a single day of love and happiness. They all hated each other, constantly fought, yelled at us. It was a nightmare

I wonder why theists are perpetually unhappy
“After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with colour, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked -- as I am surprisingly often -- why I bother to get up in the mornings. To put it the other way round, isn't it sad to go to your grave without ever wondering why you were born? Who, with such a thought, would not spring from bed, eager to resume discovering the world and rejoicing to be a part of it?”

@BlueSkyKing he doesn't half talk some rubbish lol

Today I had a cup of coffee and read a book. Simple things bring happiness.

Are you implying that Atheists have a harder time to be happy in life? In my personal experience theists have a harder time because of self imposed rules and expectations.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
There's one atheist on here who trolls as many posts as he can, he admits he's unhappy and when not trolling he's either drunk or on drugs. He needs Jesus to transform his life!!
@TheWildEcho just one?
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP no , there's plenty lol
I don't need god(s) to be happy.

Also, the strategy is very simple: make the most out of every single day and enjoy life and the positive moments without letting the negative ones overtake the mindset. Furthermore don't fight logic, use it as fundamental basics in life.

I won't need to cheer myself up living like this. When finally having low mood moments I turn to music and nature. You're welcome.
I dunno, what time is it right now? lol

My strategies are living my life and taking care of my spouse.

This weekend I went for a long bike ride and I was very happy and appreciative to be alive!

Much happier now than when I believed in god, apparently it was his will that I should be unhappy whilst everybody around me was having a great time. Sorry mate I wouldn't do that to you and I don't like people or gods who do that to me.

Theists, when is the last time you were moral for it's own sake and not from fear of hell or reward of heaven.

@Renaci Yes, I agree. Ethics are a by-product of wisdom. Even of faith and grace.

Wisdom could be defined as "the mind/heart, thirsting for emancipation, seeing direct into the heart of reality."

In respect of this thread, maybe the whole question ("atheists -when was the last time you were happy") is skewed. As if "happiness" is some sort of guide that we are on the right track, as if it should be something to be aimed at.

What is the price of Experience? Do men buy it for a song?
Or wisdom for a dance in the street? No, it is bought with the price
Of all that a man hath, his house, his wife, his children
Wisdom is sold in the desolate market where none come to buy
And in the wither'd field where the farmer ploughs for bread in vain

(William Blake, lines from "The Four Zoas")

Two images of "wisdom" which I like, found on Google Images......

@Renaci it's not about fear or reward, it's about a personal relationship with God

So being an Atheist doesn’t matter. We manage just fine without god.

I’m happy every day i stopped going to church. The world is full of new better possibilities. I’m free to fill my mind with truth and knowledge, now
