Why would people begin to hate you if choose going on a spiritual path or living according to Christ ? [Spirituality & Religion]

1. They have no understanding of God.

2. They've never read the bible, yet judge it. Or they've misinterpreted its meaning.

3. Some people don't like change.

4. They see following Jesus giving up their life, when it does just the opposite and enhances one's life.

5. They dont want to take responsibility for their actions.

6. Jesus said the world would hate followers of Christ, just as they hated Him, but I'm like you. I dont see the threat there. IF a follower of Christ is living the way he/she should in Christ, people will see the love of Christ shine through, and should. However, the problem lies in that if you have some who call themselves Christians, yet live like the devil, it sheds a bad light on those who are actually genuine and living for Christ, so they end up putting us all,in the same category, which is a real shame. Then again, you have people who just plain want nothing to do with Christ, and that's certainly their prerogative, but they shouldn't criticize those who do. We are all here to learn to love and help each other...not hurt each other. Jesus did not say to just love some. He said love one another. There was no "if in that sentence.

7. If you'll notice, people can talk about everything under the sun, no matter how filthy, and no one is offended or says one thing; yet let a Christian say something about God and His love, and all of a sudden, we're "haters". If you ask me, that is a pretty hateful attitude to have on their part, and very prejudiced. Yes, that's just awful to talk about God and how much He loves us. 🙄 There are God-haters out there.

People here can talk about any subject they like and nothing is said, no matter the filthy content, yet let a Christian share their experiences with God, and we're all of a sudden accused of craming "religion" down people's throats. What they fail to realize is that all have the right to speak and share about any subject here, without hateful criticism. We are here to discuss...not fight. I genuinely love everyone, I dont care who you are. What I don't like, however, is how some treat me in return, or others here. I'm sure all have experienced the hateful behavior of others, as well. It's really not necessary to belittle or criticize others. Much more beneficial to simply move on to another post, if one in particular makes you angry. If not, even a post that invokes such anger inside of us, we feel we must respond, still can be addressed with healthy, constructive criticism. Explain to that person why the post bothers you. Try to discuss without personal attacks.

The word "Christian" simply means "one who follows Christ and His teachings". We never have, and never will, think of ourselves as higher, smarter, wiser, nor better than anyone else. For us, following Jesus has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with having a relationship with Him. Just think how much better this world would be if we just practiced loving and helping each other, instead of being disrespectful of each other or critical. What a different world we would see. And much less divorce, suicides, and murders, I think. We'll never live in a perfect world, of course, but perhaps we could all strive to make it a bit better.
Hint: mentioning Jesus’s name 200 times in a 3 minute conversation
xixgun · M
@DukeOfEarle That happens with mentioning being gay 200 times in a 3 minute conversation as well.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@xixgun hey you can count me in on this!!! Also vegans.
How about a gay vegan born again christian who’s had WAY too much coffee! 😁 @xixgun @Doomflower

People tend to hate what they don’t understand
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@TexChik that's what I was thinking .
Because many people use it to back up their biases and hate. If it makes you and the world a better place good. If it doesn't, no.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu
Yeah, that's what i thought, son.
I'll take that as a 'no.' Okay, I'll pray for you then.
@GodSpeed63

lol ok, but make sure you actually do it.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Always do pray for you.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
They hated Him first. Jesus is the Light of the world but men love darkness because their deeds are evil.
Rocknrod · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 Amen.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
because from others point of view saying that you have discovered what the ultimate truth about everything is makes you either sound insane or very pretentious. there really isnt anything more opposite to humility than to claim to know who the creator is and what he thinks and then telling others that you want to save them from their pitiful state of ignorance.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@reflectingmonkey a person said me . He said by knowing God is not knowing God .
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@riseofthemachine in the advaita vedanta branch of hinduism they believe that it is impossible to know god. they have an expression which is "neti neti" which means " not this,not that", basically means anytime you thing you just understood god,its not that,whatever you think about it, its not that. i am a agnostic and sort of an advaita, and one of the reasons is to stay humble and another reason is out of respect for a god unknown. i think waving a book saying "this is what he thinks" is blasphemy.to me the bible,the coran, the Torah and i would throw in the Bagavad gita are blasphemous books for claiming to represent god, they are in a sense unautorised biographies, hahaha.

Many believe in stereotypes of “Bible-thumpers” and standing on a street corner wearing a sign “The End Is Near.”

Many others enjoy feeling superior because they think they know you’re wrong when that’s not provable either.

And, especially here, there are self-appointed preachers, who spout hate and judgment, because they don’t get it either.

“Beware when all speak well of you.”
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@Mamapolo2016 😊😊😊. That's my mistake, I should have no worries but I worry about everything . The racing mind .
It’s no fun to be mocked and despised, but it goes with the territory. The perks are great, though!@riseofthemachine
Rocknrod · 61-69, M
@Mamapolo2016 Not to mention we read the book. We know who wins in the end.
4meAndyou · F
I have encountered that. The people who live in my building are, at times, horrifying. I was sitting out in the common living room in front of the elevator last week, with a couple of people from my former church, and one of my neighbors got off the elevator and actually rolled her eyes at us. When my friends were leaving, she walked past again with another neighbor and they stood in her doorway, whispering, but you could hear them.

I went back into my apartment afterward and I felt ill. Their negative natures make me feel physically sick.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@4meAndyou I can relate to that with peoples negativity. At times it can get so toxic . Just cause there struggling doesn't mean you have too

"Blessed are you if people hate you, and curse you for my sake Christ says, Great is your reward in heaven"
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
I'm not sure they'd hate you. More a concern for your mental health.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
No one really knows. People always have a reason to be in their feelings about another adult's personal life decisions.

But ultimately I think that the person in question has their own issues they need to address rather than worry about someone else trying to make a positive change in their life.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@TheunderdogofNY very true .
IDK
trying to be the best you can be should be commended

People tend to find one-note people with simple views of reality to be pretty boring. If you allow one thing to consume your entire identity, you'll end up being viewed contemptuously.
curiosi · 61-69, F
It scares them.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@curiosi but how does it scare them if it's a good thing . Doesn't it say in Bible , Do not be afraid .
curiosi · 61-69, F
@riseofthemachine They don't wish to grow.
Cuz apparently, we are fools and we dont think lol

Why should anyone care? Why must you inform others of something that isn’t anyone’s business?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@JoeyFoxx
Why should anyone care? Why must you inform others of something that isn’t anyone’s business?
Salvation belongs to our God. That's why.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
gods are imagined.

So, salvation is human.

@GodSpeed63
Soramarie · 26-30, F
Because they don’t want to waste their life believing in nothing. They are afraid of being fools..... it’s sad but true.... if we are right though.... which we are 😁, we will spend our lives in Glory and they will pay their consequences.
Soramarie · 26-30, F
cops do the same to wrongdoers
Carazaa · F
@Soramarie Like exposed to nature.
Carazaa · F
@Doomflower I am not sure that was what she meant. I took it more like if someone comes on here and hates God or mocks god or as in many countries kill Christians because they don't worship Allah, or worship nothing like in North Korea where they say you are stupid for having faith, or many gods in Thailand or India, or they are atheists and can do whatever they want without an accountability to a god, then one day if we are right they will have to answer for their murders if they so murdered, or mockings if they mocked God, or us.

If you are right and we are wrong then we have just lived to love god and people for nothing, that's all. Because a Christian life is not easy at times but I hope for a better life in heaven, for me and for you.

@RippinKlouds I do keep to myself and I dont shove religion down peoples throats cause I know it's dangerous to shove anything down someone's throat.

Because you give up. When you pretend some skydaddy will save you there ends common sense. Fight for life. Enjoy it. Don't give up.

I don’t “hate” anyone who becomes religious, but I do keep my distance in real life, because they tend to begin to proselytize and judge. I don’t need that. I know what my beliefs are.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard I dont judge no one either . It was never my nature . I do have faults but I never judge .
I be saying to myself , who are my to judge or talk
@riseofthemachine Well, you sound like a good, kind person. If you’re someone who also “walks the walk”, that’s a good thing. 🙂
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard I dont cause no trouble to no one but my mind can say I'm the worst in the world .
It's the other fella down stairs doing his work on me .
