I believe in many ways that Jesus in the New testament did fulfil many of the Old Testament prophecies.
The problem is that different verses, or groups of verses, appear to contradict other groups of verses. Not surprising when you realise the Bible was actually written over a period of approx. 1,000 years. You can find a verse of scripture to support any idea or lifestyle however weird. We need to read it as a whole and see the development of ideas and especially take Jesus' teachings seriously.

I don't think the bible actually does make very many successful prophecies.
I'm not a huge fan of prophecy in general because it is generally so vague that it can be applied to basically whatever you want.

This is just one example of the Gospel writers Inventing a story in order to fulfill prophecy:
Brown, R.E., The Birth of the Messiah
Brown, R.E., The Birth of the Messiah
The Gospel of Luke links the birth of Jesus to the census:
In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.
— Luke 2:1–5
There are major difficulties in accepting Luke's account: the gospel links the birth of Jesus to the reign of Herod the Great (Luke 1:5: "In the days of King Herod of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah..."), but the census took place in 6 CE, nine years after Herod's death in 4 BCE; there was no single census of the entire empire under Augustus; no Roman census required people to travel from their own homes to those of distant ancestors; and the census of Judea would not have affected Joseph and his family, living in Galilee.[6] Some conservative scholars have argued that Quirinius may have had an earlier and historically unattested term as governor of Syria, or that he previously held other senior positions which may have led him to be involved in the affairs of Judea during Herod's reign, or that the passage should be interpreted in some other fashion.[9][10][11] Such arguments have been rejected on various grounds, including that there is no time in the known career of Quirinius when he could have served as governor of Syria before 6 CE, that the Romans did not directly tax client kingdoms, and that the hostile reaction of the Jews in 6 CE suggests direct taxation by Rome was new at the time.[12][13] Ralph Martin Novak says that these conservative interpretations spring from the assumption that the Bible is inerrant,[14] and Géza Vermes called such arguments "exegetical acrobatics".[15] Most scholars have concluded that the author of Luke's gospel made an error.[6]

Speedyman · 70-79, M
Of course. It was only after the resurrection they realised what Jesus had been telling them all along - that the Messiah had to suffer and die as the prophets had predicted. Your problem us you leave the story unfinished because you don't like the ending. Note the early church preached the resurrection as it was this that nade sense of a suffering Messiah. Read 1Corinthians 15 where Paul says if the Nessiah has not been raised we are without hope. @CookieLuvsBunny

Just because there is a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of the Bible, that does not mean it is not true. It means that you are truly far from the truth. 🙂

@Pfuzylogic The Bible is plain for the hungry, and confusing for the proud, but I know that Jesus helps me and I am so happy that you pfuzylogic is defending Jesus. It means a lot to Him. Because if we deny him he will deny us one day at the gate of heaven. We will be persecuted. Jesus stood up in heaven when Stephen was stoned to death. It isn't fun to defend Jesus some days but He has commanded us to do it, and we will be hated. I love you though🤗

That's great. But can you explain why dinosaurs weren't mentioned in Bible. Or humans evolved from apes. Or earth is round and it's revolving around Sun? Also if Christ is only true God, why is there other religions exist in the world?

I will give you the same credit of not forcing your beliefs or lack of belief on me. I know that I am not the compelling force for belief nor do I pretend to be. Agnosticism is simply a rejection. It is not a belief. One of the biggest “idols” died recently and scientists have seen a newborn freedom since his demise.

I think it's more like it's misunderstood. Some even believe it was created to keep man from killing each other?!😯 Many things have been kept from us and the bible is being questioned like never before. Like in the picture of "The Last Supper." The 12 Disciples...some believe one is a woman named Mary Magdalene.

Is it logically possible that the Bible is not true with all the fulfilled prophesies?
If a person would say the Bible is not true, it is essentially calling God a liar. The Bible is God’s Word, given to holy men of old by the Holy Spirit.
Do you doubt the prophecies? Yes, to date, they’ve all come true (up to this time). Proving they were true. Many more shall be fulfilled. In fact, ALL of them.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M

I dont think we can read Genesis so literally - ie that the world was created in seven days. We have to see some of it poetry and allegory
JBird · F
@Carazaa look, my idea of a God is very different from yours. So, technically, I am underestimating YOUR idea of God. And yes, I am
concerned about other worlds if they exist because who knows there's a chance they attack us. And yes, other worlds are important to me than that imaginary angry God of yours.

BiblicalWarrior · 51-55, M
@KimberleyAnne Actually, the earth was created in 6 literal days.
You cannot apply logic to something that was manufactured. We know from Roman records (the only proper records from that time) there were twenty or more such prophets in and around that time who called themselves the Messiah. The Romans executed all to them and then used the budding religion as a weapon.

So true. Yes I believe you are right!🌷☕️🍰
He is in the trees ha ha! It is so strange you say that. Because when I am walking the wind flows strongly by the nearest tree I sit by, or walk by even on a completely calm day. At first I thought I was imagining it, or it was a coincident. But if I pray under a tree, or just thank God like I do all day long there is this strong wind that comes, I am always so surprised. I live in a valley with no wind. I feel it is God to tell me "I love you and I am here for you. I will take care of you"
I even have a video where all the leaves are still around me except the tree I sit under.

Is it possible that the bible is not true? Well if you believe God inspired or wrote it and it can't be untrue you are saying a God that can do anything can't lie. So...can God lie or not?

@Texasgurl The Bible is the original writing preserved by God from one generation to the next by hand copies verbatim in the original language. Until the printing press, then it was translated into every language in the world. Many of us Christians have translated verbatim from Hebrew and Greek.

Carazaa, you know, I have faith.
Not, perhaps, your brand of it, wich is not the only one (and to say that the own one is the one validated by Him somehow is just human hubris).
But…
That way to use bad formulated probabilities to prove something is not the best way to convince anyone with some basic Math skills.
My full respects to you.

@Carazaa Carazaa, please, help me to understand what you are saying.
That because Jesus has done for us, we should make a fictitious and fraudulent use of Mathematics?
That because of Him, we should give false testimony on how Nature is?

He certainly do not need frauds to be praised.

I know that Yeshua is the Messiah and that He was prophesied about in the OT however in the modern translations Isaiah 11:1 does not mention Him being a Nazarene.

@CookieLuvsBunny So some believed. Others had different opinions. Imagine their embarrassment when they realize they were looking for an earthly king when their Heavenly King was in their midst.
BiblicalWarrior · 51-55, M
@CookieLuvsBunny First of all, the word Immanuel literally means :God With Us". Secondly, Messiah simply means anointed one, and it is patently clear in Scripture that kings were not the only ones who were anointed. Priests and prophets were also anointed, and Yeshua was all three in one.
