Is it logically possible that the Bible is not true with all the fulfilled prophesies? [Spirituality & Religion]

The Bible is God's word and there are so many prophesies that have been fulfilled.

A Statistical Improbability

Some Bible scholars suggest there are more than 300 prophetic Scriptures completed in the life of Jesus. Circumstances such as his birthplace, lineage, and method of execution were beyond his control and could not have been accidentally or deliberately fulfilled.

In the book Science Speaks, Peter Stoner and Robert Newman discuss the statistical improbability of one man, whether accidentally or deliberately, fulfilling just eight of the prophecies Jesus fulfilled. The chance of this happening, they say, is 1 in 1017 power. Stoner gives an illustration that helps visualize the magnitude of such odds:

Suppose that we take 1017 silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote using their own wisdom.

The mathematical improbability of 300, or 44, or even just eight fulfilled prophesies of Jesus stands as evidence to his messiahship.

Just because there is a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of the Bible, that does not mean it is not true. It means that you are truly far from the truth. 🙂

@Zonuss
Take any story from the gospels, read it in one Gospel, and write down the details. Then read the same story from another Gospel and do the same. Then compare the two and you'll find inconsistencies. No interpretation is necessary
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Take any two biographies. You will find differences. Dies not mean inconsistencies except to ignorant people like you with little or no understanding. @CookieLuvsBunny
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Speedyman
If two biographies contain contradictory accounts about the same events at least one of the biographies is wrong. Even someone as intellectually limited as yourself should understand that
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@CookieLuvsBunny Well if you were to seek out the truth instead of just reading then you would know what exists in the real world vs what you just assume. You are missing a lot my friend. 🙂

That is the crucial point isn't it? The real world does not have people dying and coming back to life and, last I checked, Jesus hasn't returned like he promised his poor followers two thousand years ago
Carazaa · F
@Harriet03 You mock more than anyone here!
Carazaa · F
@CookieLuvsBunny We are in the last generation now. Never have we had ALL the signs at the same time. Read Matt 24, Daniel, Ephesians, and REV.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
As you probably don't read much you probably wouldn't know@CookieLuvsBunny
Speedyman · 70-79, M
@CookieLuvsBunny you have an absolute talent for missing the point. This is the whole point to the Christian faith that Jesus came back from the dead. Of course that doesn't happen in the real world and that is why the disciples believed that he was the son of God and that is why Christians still believes he was the son of God. Dead people don't rise so the resurrection proves that Jesus is the son of God . You need to examine the evidence for the resurrection before you start making the snap judgements of the secularists who is usually ignorant of the facts anyway
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Carazaa I only "mock" what is mockable!!
Call me old fashioned but i like a smidge of evidence.. 🤷‍♀️
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@CookieLuvsBunny Well actually there are many stories that have been proven to be true even in a modern day world. There are a lot of doctors that have seen people come back from the dead unexpectedly. Many people have said to have seen angels and demons. I am one of them. I can go on and on. But seeing is believing. And apparently you havent seen much. 🙂

[big]Breaking News![/big]
Jesus and Elvis are both still dead
BiblicalWarrior · 51-55, M
@CookieLuvsBunny Let's take a modern concrete example of your argument and look at the case of a car accident with several witnesses. Do all the witnesses normally give the exact same information to the police? In the same way, the gospel accounts are not inconsistent, but simply the story told from the perspective of each writer, and each had a particular focus to their account.

BREAKING NEWS! HE LIVES IN ME!
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@BiblicalWarrior
The Gospel Mark states Jesus was crucified the day after Passover (Mark 15) while the Gospel of John says the crucifixion happened the day before Passover (John 19). That is a contradiction. If two witnesses of a car accident state that the accident happened on two different days then at least one of the witnesses is wrong
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@CookieLuvsBunny Save your breath hun, they do not do facts. Never have, never will!! 🤷‍♀️
BiblicalWarrior · 51-55, M
@CookieLuvsBunny Can you quote me an exact verse in Mark 15 where it specifically states that Christ was crucified after Passover?
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@BiblicalWarrior
In Matthew, Mark and Luke the last supper takes place on the first day of the Passover (Matthew 26:17, Mark 14:12, Luke 22:7). In John's gospel it takes place a day earlier and Jesus is crucified on the first day of the Passover (John 19:14).

Mark 14 starting at 12 emphasis mine:
12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”

16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”

19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”

20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me. 21 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

John 19 starting at 13 emphasis mine:

13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.

“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

There are no contradictions. Passover is a long event and you are looking for contradictions of Gods own word. Jesus died for the worlds sins. I love you and I want God to bless you so you can go to heaven. I want Jesus to pay for your sins, not you yourself. 🤗
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Carazaa Read what is highlighted or read Mark chapters 14 and 15 and John chapter 19 for yourself. Don't take my word for it. Read it yourself
Carazaa · F
@CookieLuvsBunny You are misunderstanding it. There are no contradictions. Passover is 8 days, and preparation is before.
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Carazaa
No misunderstanding. Read it for yourself.

Jesus had the last supper at night and the following day he was arrested. Preparation, killing of the lamb , and the Sabbath were many days. 8 in all.
