How ridiculous. She looks fine, and probably looks a lot better than most of the old, graying, and balding guys. I can't imagine the general public is happy about this.
Quelle horreur. I remember, years ago, I was looking for an assistant for our Montreal office, and the agency emailed asking me how old [b][i][u]she[/u][/i][/b] should be, how tall, and if I preferred any other physical characteristics.
@Lilymoon yes, it’s not right that women have to constantly try and look young and sexy while men can look their age without a problem. Oh well, she’s probably going to file a lawsuit against them.
@smiler2012 It happens all the time, unfortunately. People get hired for their looks and also fired for their looks......the employer just can't let it be known that was the reason..... Where I work, the CEO (female) hired and paid a new female employee (Ph.D.) more starting salary because of her looks. I will say that the new employee was one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. The COO of the company, who is a friend of my wife, told me about this and was a little pissed because the new hire was getting paid 25K more a than the equivalent person in her position.
She is getting paid to look good on camera. With some jobs, image is everything. The image that the news like to push is youthful beautiful female reporters. Not matronly ones.
They do not have as high of standard for men because no one is really focused on how good men look, it is all about women's looks.

No it is not fair. BUT it is not much different than how a man's worth is measured by his status and wealth. The difference being is when a woman suddenly loses, people feel sorry for her. When a man loses, people joke, laugh, make memes, call him every name in the book...
@CestManan that wasn't the case with Rosie O'Donnell....they threw her under the bus. Women shouldn't have to rely on good looks no wonder so many of them have serious mental issues and getting plastic surgery it's just ridiculous all just to please the male eye
@Lilymoon you have a point there about Rosie. I do not know her story but yeah she wasn't exactly Christie Brinkley in the looks dept.
There are a lot of double standards when it comes to gender for sure.
There is a good chance Lisa will get her job back and this whole thing is just an attention-grab for ratings since there isn't much else to report right now.
While it may be disheartening to be judged for something outside of your control, it's no different for any balding Hollywood actor that is unable to get any acting roles, unless they're on hair loss medication perhaps. Appearances matter in the media.
@Lilymoon That's an exaggeration. Women in their 20s and 30s get by fine with their natural looks. Especially in their 20s, when they're generally speaking at their peak. You're also only highlighting the negatives. Older women may get judged more on their looks than older men do, but women also reap the benefits of their looks earlier in life. Men don't share that privilege to the same extent.

The weird thing about some female celebrities is they will be BEAUTIFUL but still go under the knife and sometimes end up looking ridiculous.
Like Delta Burke, she was beyond stunning at one point but then plastic surgery happened... Granted she was younger "before" but she probably would have aged very well.
@Viper she's been working there for 35 years with no problems. she lets' her hair go grey and all hell breaks loose. She needs to sue their ass. Pretty sure the guy who fired her is getting ousted.

@Lilymoon for reals the story if truly true and her termination was due to her refusal to dye her hair. Then this is so beyond beyond next level hypocrisy. Im on her side.

It seems so very obsolete
I was sitting in a waiting room yesterday and a tv was on the opposite wall with the volume muted but closed captioning on, and I only occasionally glanced at it, but I could tell it was the Today Show, and I just noticed a couple of passages of captioning text and wondered "Who is this show for, what is even the point of it?"
Any news or weather I get comes from a web browser (Google News, Weather.com), it's very rarely video, and unlike with that brief glimpse of the Today Show I never see interviews with "Lifestyle Influencers" (what does that even mean?)
According to Jesse Brown of Canadaland, LaFlamme was ousted by Michael Melling, a Bell Media Vice President; the two apparently had a disagreement over the budget to cover the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.

@bijouxbroussard So do I. She deserves it. She was a really good news anchor. I can’t see her wanting to go back to CTV even if they offer her job back.
