Do you trust most people ?

I don't mean close family or friends, (although I do not trust a few of those now and , subsequently are no longer friends).

But when you are with say, new friend (s), dating, in a new job, or just random strangers -do you feel most people are trustworthy on the whole.. or do you feel they will one day cheat you, lie to you, or say things they definitely do not mean... ? Do you tend to not be as social as you once were, due to this? I can say yes for this, unfortunately :(

Same here. I kinda trust no-one. Some will stab you in the back, some will forget their words, most people are just self-centered.

I tend to trust most people. Very few have betrayed that trust.

I usually don't let people close enough to disappoint me these days. I expect them to not do the right thing, and stay prepared to make up for that.

I don't socialize at all, except maybe chatting with the seniors at my seniors assisted living facility.

For the most part, I don't give people a chance, it's too often a set up for hurt and I've got enough pain.

@ScreamingFox I agree, it is just exhausting trying to give your full self to someone, and yet AGAIN, so many times, be let down . :( It's so rare to find someone truly genuine, truly trustworthy.

I don't trust government or corporations, they are only out for control of people and power.

As for private citizens, its a hit and miss. I've been burned so many burned so many times by trusting people and getting stabbed in the backed.

It used be handshake and honor meant something
No, I trust very few.

I have deeply rooted trust issues.

Once, when I was young, I had someone befriend me one moment, only to betray me the next.

Since then, I've become very wary when it comes to trusting people.

I do not trust people I do not know well.

I think that’s quite normal not to be as trustworthy as adults.

When we were kids, we trust everyone because we don’t know any better. But the more life experience you have with people who let you down and are not trustworthy then you learn not to trust as easily as an adult.

i make rational choices to trust or distrust people based on their own behavior..
Trust is not freely given. It is earned over time. Even then, its not a huge circle.

I trust people by default. It would be impossible to do my job otherwise. That does not make me a naive fool or blind me to human nature. But it signals to others hiw I think the world should be and it makes daily life a whole lot more pleasant than it otherwise would be.

Are you kidding? I don't trust me.

I keep my eyes open. I've been majorly screwed by family members, so everyone is suspect. It just has to be that way!

In my command center of my bunker as I type. So the answer is no.

Family and close friends only.

I don't worry about it one way or another. I expect them to be human and that entails disappointing expectations.

I trust that outside of my closest family that people will do what's best for them and their own. I can't say I'd ever expect more than that.
