Farmer. Especially when they are out standing in their field.
LilPrincess · 46-50, F
Growing up on a farm...I have to say the farmer. 😒

@LilPrincess There's only so much one family can do.
Are these farms where they're growing grains and using combine harvesters and other machinery? The farms I'm talking about are all hand harvest vegetable farms. You can't do that with just a few people. So they have to bring in sometimes hundreds of workers.

@LeopoldBloom this is exhausting...why do you want to sit and argue with me about a damn farms that I see day in and day out and have friends and family that do it day in and day out.
I don't see you questioning anyone else...did you just decide to pick the weakest link here(me) to go after.
I'm done...

@LilPrincess I'm not arguing, I'm aware that there are small family farms. But I live in Georgia and our biggest industry here is agriculture and I work with farmers, so I have a pretty good idea of how the farms here operate. They couldn't survive without outside labor.
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
Ive seen to many cases of bad sheep in the police industry. I do not like respecting them, but feel forced to. Farmers are forced to poison our veggies and fruits with pesticides. A lawyer will lie for a guilty person for money. There is no such thing as integrity. A scientist will hide lies of what is the actual truth. Whether if its a discovery of the past, or if Earth is in danger, or whats more frightening is some are making deadly things to destroy us. A physician, would rather sell you man made medicene with many side effects when they could tell you certain remedies that could cure your diagnoses. Medicene is like a bandaid. It wont heal the issue. Otherwise if they did. They wouldnt make any money. And some of those pills are addictive which cost people so many of their lives. A teacher, some are nothing but bullies or pedophiles. So many woman teachers have prayed upon children. How many teachers who tried to mold these children to become successful destroyed that. Fuck them all!
Lilymoon · F
@ScarletWitch yeah. All good points.
LeopoldBloom · M
@ScarletWitch I was thinking the same thing, each profession has good and bad people in it.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@ScarletWitch so who would you respect?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
They're all good and bad in some ways. Lawyers can be corrupt but if we didn't have any, we'd have fascism. If there were no defense attorneys, people could go to prison for any stupid thing.
Teachers for obvious reasons need to be there to give kids an education but it's said that school is nothing but indoctrination and not much is really taught anyways. I'm not saying it's indoctrination into any political party, I'm just saying that it's good for wage slavery rather than thinking for yourself. But school is a necessity and teachers don't get paid enough. I support the school systems of Norway is probably one of the best models to date.
Physicians are also respected as well need medicine but with the epidemic of prescribing medication to treat symptoms of something rather than holistic health and overall state of being. We have people getting misdiagnosed, getting addicted to medication, getting the wrong medication and push to sell medicine that people don't need. Like how we're overdosing children with Adderall. Suddenly, every child is ADHD and nobody seems to ask why because frankly that's weird and an implausiblity that the majority seem to be diagnosed with something or the other, a little sus if you ask me 😳
Scientists, we do need advancement but there's bureaucracy and red tape. Even if there were a cure for the world's diseases, it would be withheld. Lots to say there but the world regarding science is so messed up. Patents make it impossible. Yet it's also to be respected because of the possibilities that exist.
Farmers, I guess who could say anything bad about them but over consumption has led to land being destroyed. That's in both agriculture and animal farming. Both can be done but we're not doing it responsibly and over consumption has a weight on food supply. Over use of pesticides are literally slowly poisoning people and organic is no better, people are now 59% plastic thanks to our litter and plastic.
Police officers can also be respected, there's many times I've seen them act heroically but many others been screwed over. The police are to serve the state and not the citizens so if the state decided to move you for instance, the police and military will always "follow orders," is what they do.
They do protect people but the flip side is that protection is only as good as our leaders.

@SatanBurger very good points! Though I don't believe this bit:
The amounts of plastic we eat, drink and breathe and get stuck inside us are worrying, but there is no way that makes up more than half of our cells.

@NerdyPotato Haha yeah good point, I was overexaggerating and should just say we now have plastic in our bodies lol
Lilymoon · F
@SatanBurger just gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Teacher. I have a middle schooler, they're practically all ferel at that age.
Northwest · M
How did lawyers make the list?
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Teacher, you can't do any of the other five without a series of qualified teachers.
BizSuitStacy · M
I think farmers deserve some love. Extremely hard work, virtually no time off, typically doesn't pay well, and yet they responsible for our food supply.
All of these professions are similar. You go to school, you learn things, you take lots of notes and document as much as you can in a stale environment, and then you go out in the world to practice it, learn new things, add to your documents, teach others, continue to grow until one day you retire, or die trying. They all get my respect.
GuiltyBiStander · 31-35, F
A farmer-scientist who's also a teacher, but not in trouble with the cops or running a prescription drug scam.
fun4us2b · M
A good honest person in any of those professions are respectable since a healthy society depends on all of those things being done well...
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@fun4us2b ^This^
Respected or feared? Those are often confused. 😬
I find it hard to pick any. There are quite big problems with a lot of people in all those professions. But if I really had to choose, and though it feels weird to say, I think lawyers might be the ones doing the least damage of this list.

Lilymoon · F
@NerdyPotato yup
@NerdyPotato Lawyers do the least damage? omg, you have to be joking. They live on the edge of right or wrong and try to sway the vote to suit. There is a LOT of shady shiz going on with this profession.
@MisterBander it's absolutely shady, but it takes a lot of time for prosecutors to get any significant punishment and aside from letting a few dangerous people back on the street, defenders generally just keep people out of debt and trouble that jailtime causes without really helping anyone in most cases.
I'm not saying they're altogether doing a positive job, but compared to others?
- Teachers shaping our worldview with highly biased and outdated info.
- Physicians ignoring underlying issues if a patient is fat, dismissing pain in women and people of color.
- Scientists chasing new discoveries and hardly confirming whether the previous preliminary ones are actually true.
- Farmers poisoning our food and environment.
- Do I even need to go over wrongful arrests and police killings?

Teacher or farmer.
Teacher because 1/3 of our kid's childhood's are in their hands. They're taking on responsibility in so many kids lives every year & have an impact on all those kid's development.
Farmer because of the work they put in to sustain the lives of so many people around them, not just their own families. Both farmers & teachers are extremely important but underappreciated professions. Therefore the most respectful in my opinion

Definitely not a police officer.
I'm more likely to go with a teacher than most of them on that list.

I have a long answer as to the bad and good of every profession but I'd have to say lawyers to be honest. Lawyers, at least the decent ones are there to represent you. If we didn't have them, people could do what they wanted to you and you wouldn't have any say against anything. There's a lot of crappy lawyers who are only as good as their experience but I do think they keep the system fair and impartial which is what it should be
Farmer... they're out there day and night making good food for us to eat on next to no return for them.

Farmer. A level of commitment to their profession that is hard to comprehend.

Lawyer is on the bottom ....
But don't let that info out ....I have a few friends that are lawyers who may come in handy in the future 😁
As far as sacrifice goes ,,,,,, it's a toss up between farmer and Physician ...... I really admire people that are willing to make good on things that require so much dedication .
I want to say Scientist because , of all of the one's listed ,that would be the one I would gravitate to the most ...... but not quite brainy enough ...

In order:
Teacher
Scientist
Physician
Police Officer
Farmer
Lawyer
If it was farm laborer instead of farmer, it would be higher up. And lawyer is only at the bottom because so many of them are POS. Of course, there are many decent lawyers too.

Out of those, police officer. We can find bad apples in every one of the above but, by far, the majority of police officers are in it for the right reason and do put their lives on the line for us.

I choose farmer, but police officer is defo up there too.

I would also add.. forensic scientists and detectives. Especially those working so diligently on cold cases to solve them and bring some sort of closure for the families of loved ones who had gone missing and met a dire end. They are unsung hero's to moi.
