my version of Hide and Seek, mostly hid without telling my sisters I was going to do it. It could have been in the attic or under the sink in the cabinet that had an open back with the low window for light. I could stay there for an hour or more. 😂 After a couple of years of that kitchen cabinet being my favorite place to hide my younger sister finally found where I’d been hiding.
If wasn't on my bike outside we would usually all be outside having bike races or playing tag and flag football. If was raining or at night my sisters and I would play sorry or Uno. Saturday nights usually played Rummy with my mom
I used to play with a group of boys when I was about 5 or 6. They ALWAYS wanted to play cowboys and Indians, and they would run around pretending to shoot guns, and I would pretend I was an Indian and the bare earth area under the hemlock tree in my back yard was my "teepee". Basically, I was playing "house" but "outside" house. No one was allowed to come in unless they used "the door", which was two small saplings growing side by side in the front of my "teepee".
We all loved to climb trees, and we loved to tramp through the woods behind my house and pretend there was a bear cave there...where a tree had become uprooted and had fallen down.
There was a very old Italian man who spoke no English a few lots over behind my house, and he tended a greenhouse. We used to love going over there to bother him...he was fascinating, for some reason...🤣
@Sevendays We had a town wide game we called "bicycle tag" one person would be "it" get a head start and the rest of the kids would pursue until the person was surrounded. Then another person would be "it" and the whole thing would start again! The boundaries were the village limits and the person that was it had to keep moving.
The one where we built structures from cards, mikado sticks and other stuff we took mostly from a huge box with games and tried to destroy it with catapulting small metal balls from spring hair clips.
@Primnproper auto spell changed the name of the first game to strategic lol I have played chess from age 9 to now and have managed to become a Strong tournament player.
@beermeplease I can imagine You all have a great time, I haven't played either in decades, both my ex wife and late ex fiancee preferred gin rummy, they both sandbagged which made me hate playing cards with them, and my mother likes a family invented card game called kings in the corner, I'm not a fan of that one either, none of them liked playing trivial pursuit with me as I always smoked them.
@NativePortlander1970 yeah we usually have a good time. my buds and i are fairly knowledgeable and the winner isn't always the same person....where it gets fun is when the answer is simple or easy but we freeze when we don't know it...then when the answer is read it's like "damn...shoulda had a pie" 🤦
