Who is more generous: The Rich or The Poor

Not just in dollars, but also giving their own personal time to help others

It always amazed me in my travels in the Army around the world where the poorest of the poor always had the biggest of hearts. When you have nothing, it costs you nothing to share it and share it freely, when you have everything then you know the cost of sharing it and guard what you have.

It varies. I mean look at the tale of old scrooge. My partner can be tight, but if he knew of someone in need he is very generous.

I know some selfish poor people. I also know some rich giving people. The thing here is just because someone is rich, doesn't mean they owe anyone a dime. Instead of enabling by just giving someone something, show them how to earn their keep and make money. But seriously I know a lot more selfish poor people. What's important is that we keep our individuality, own our own businesses and work for ourselves.

I believe statistics show that the poorer are more generous with both their time and their money - proportionately - than the rich.

There are examples of amazingly generous people among both the rich and the poor.
@BrandNewMan amendment .. I would agree proportionally to their available resources, the poor are often more generous on that measure

that is a loaded question. The rich can afford more time and money, so i assume they are the apparent winnders, but in terms of spendable income, and time, i have my bet on the poorer ones.

You're alive 💪
If a person only has a dollar but gives 50 cents, that person is more generous than a millionaire who gives $100.

Both I think it's the character of whomever not the income

@WowwGirl my uncle and aunt got rich and they gave us nothing… even though she said if she won the lottery she would treat us. She always said that. Well, it’s almost like she won the lottery and she gave us nothing. Rich people become snobs.

@Ferise1 not all

@donut I find the rich are generally rich because they are very successful at something or some combination of things, far more so than because they are selfish.

@BrandNewMan I appreciate your perspective, and I agree that many wealthy people have worked hard or been successful in some field. At the same time, I think it's also fair to acknowledge that in some cases, wealth can lead to or come from self-serving behavior—intentionally or not. It's a complex issue, and there are definitely exceptions on both sides.

Probably the poor. They know what it's like to go without.

The rich. Particularly the rich liberals. The rich conservatives are stingy.

On the other hand, my best friend’s dad is a doctor, and I was invited on a snowboarding holiday many times and they paid for absolutely everything!! ski passes, restaurant… they were the nicest people and they were Jewish.
