"Honesty is the best policy." Best for what? Look at the US Government today and you'll see it may not always be true.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@MoveAlong
Well, you'll never know because the US government has never demonstrated itself as being honest.

If you work hard, you'll be able to buy a home.

The more education you get, the more likely you will get a high-paying job.
Waveney · M
@helenS Yes it is. It's all about experience, not education.
@Waveney it's about connections more than anything I've found
Waveney · M
@MrBlueGuy That too
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
Go to college, get a degree, and you'll get a fantastic good paying job. Bullshit. Wish I had gone to trade school or gotten an apprenticeship. That's where the real cash is at.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@SleepingWithGhosts Yep, that's what I was told. I have a B.A. in Literature. I spent my entire working life in restaurants and retail.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
The American dream?
Our political system is working and getting qualified people for the jobs....
Rutterman · 46-50, M

The world map is accurate
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Thevy29 Africa is roughly 14 times larger than Greenland!
Waveney · M
@Thevy29 Oddly topical, seeing as the UN has just voted to ditch the Mercator map lol
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@Waveney About time too. I used to yarn with sailors who came into town. I remember them saying they had to use GPS and couldn't use old maps to navigate as they were inaccurate.
sarahcupcake · 36-40, F
Politicians can help you
@sarahcupcake that's not a lie. They are capable of doing that. They just refuse to.

@sarahcupcake there's some truth to that as well. I was talking about the role being able to help citizens, but the people fulfilling that role come with different issues indeed.
You can be whatever you want to be.
If you behave in a way society deems "appropriate", you’ll be treated fairly.
BohoBabe · M
Religion, it's not even close.
Violence doesn't solve anything. Turn the other cheek. (when we look back at history, only revolutions and violent acts made changes that stuck)
@greensnacks every single major conflict in history was solved with violence 😆
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
People are kind if you are kind to them.

* Wrong buzzer* 😞
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Which society?

The most common lie is about organized religion.
swirlie · 31-35, F
That America is the greatest most powerful country on earth. It isn't, never was and never will be.
WillieT · 61-69, M
@swirlie Do you live in America? If you think another country is better, why are you still here?
swirlie · 31-35, F
@WillieT
No I don't live in the USA which is why I'm not there right now!
helenS · 36-40, F
"There is no such thing as society."
That's probably the biggest lie society tells the young.
There’s a certain path you have to take to be successful and a certain age by which you should have life all figured out.

Cripples countless people, put behind the eight ball on a journey that’s barely just begun.
