Women, what casual things do men do that unintentionally make you feel unsafe?

Top | New | Old
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
I get scared of men in general sometimes not because I assume the worst, but because certain behaviors make me feel unsafe. Things like:
prolonged staring
walking behind me
standing too close
getting aggressive when rejected
slowing down their car near me, or catcalling… they all trigger a sense of fear. It’s not personal, it’s a pattern. I just wish more men understood how these seemingly casual things can feel threatening.
WolfGirlwh0r3 · 36-40, T
@mindstruggle Its systemic and trained that men are entitled be able to.whatever they want, while that couldnt be farther from the truth, we need to do like the what happened to the agressive babboons make them suffer and soon the rest will learn agression is bad
@WolfGirlwh0r3 Haha I get where you're coming from. A lot of the world has a culture of nationalism and a specific concept of what a "man" should be, which is slightly different between cultures, but generally just toxic af and unnecessarily aggressive.

It's not new, it's not unique to any region of the world, it's been a constant since the beginning of history.

It's best to accept that we can do very little about it and just change ourselves. I am being MY idea of what a man is, even if that sometimes means backing down to keep the peace. Nobility is often greater than victory in a game you can refuse to play.

My question is, if you are a man and you are reading this. Are you willing to admit that you have done some of these things listed in this post. Even in private. Or in the very least acknowledge your guilt to yourself?
WowwGirl · 36-40, F

Just going out to the tavern or any place fun is a nightmare if you go alone. Constantly being hit on or they sit right at your table thinking you want their company. You always gotta take your going out crew with you for protection

Stare, Just blank stare at them. From a parking lot, to a restaurant. It can be from anywhere.

Like stranger touches the small of your back when they needs to get past you in a crowded place. You know they don't do that to other men, so why must they do it to you.
@HumanEarth I tried to help a lady get out of her disabled car and away from heavy traffic but she just stood there and kept talking while cars whizzed by us. 😅 So I very gently put my hand on her back and tried to usher her to a safe spot. She yipped and moved away from me like I poked her with a needle. 😅😅

When they ask for directions or at the store when they ask about a product I have in my hands or cart. Or just randomly start talking to me at the checkout. I never want to be that person who judges all men, but it does creep me out.
@TurtlePink It ruins it for the men who actually could use some help and only see women around. It happens, okay? 😆
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
I don’t like it when my hubby works on his own … up high on our roof alone.
Insisting upon conversation when I’m trying to withdraw politely. Asking personal questions too soon. Making sexual comments when I haven’t indicated any interest. 🤨
acupaday · 46-50, F
Had a guy circle the parking lot while staring at me for an extended amount of time. Felt extremely predatory.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@acupaday it felt predatory, because it is. This is exactly what I'm talking about. If this had happened to his daughter or any other female in his circle he would be upset by it This is not okay in the least bit.
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
Exist. I'm kidding😂.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
I'm afraid to even answer this question.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
@AngelUnforgiven Im here just for your response!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nearly 150 replies. And they wonder why my avatar and 'about me' is the way it is.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Have a big fighting breed dog off leash with them, especially the muscular types with visible tattoos.
Two men talking and suddenly going quiet when they pass by me.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@CrazyMusicLover oh no I misunderstood. That's dangerous and really dumb I agree.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@WowwGirl I meet them in the woods sometimes. They are usually calm but it makes me feel uneasy anyway. Unlike small dogs. They often yap at me and it's always some middle aged woman who can't control them. 🙄 Only once I had a German Shepherd running towards me barking but it was with a man who commanded him right away and it stopped immediately.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@CrazyMusicLover I get it totally

Walk too close behind me
skmokisses · 46-50, F
Oh and I forgot.....thinking it's ever okay to touch you without permission.
They don't care how you feel or what you need. If you don't do things their way, you're garbage to them. They don't do what they say they will. They run from one woman to the next, ruining anything special. They don't respect boundaries but they won't let you in.
BigImo · 26-30, F

WowwGirl · 36-40, F

WowwGirl · 36-40, F

Tumbleweed · F
When they be hovering too close to children.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@Tumbleweed that doesn't happen here that's a population thing. That would be horrible though I see what you mean.
Tumbleweed · F
@WowwGirl Any crowded place, grocery stores, EVERYWHERE, I be watching peoples kids & make sure there's nobody lurking.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@Tumbleweed here you don't even say hi to one unless you have communication with their adult/parent.
Madmonk · M
Nose breathing and mouth breathing.
@catastrophecarnival You come here often?
skmokisses · 46-50, F
Invading your personal space uninvited and using their body to block you
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@AngelUnforgiven Had it happen more times than I can count.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@skmokisses i'm so sorry
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@AngelUnforgiven I am sure I am not alone and it is very unfortunate indeed.
4meAndyou · F
Tailgate when they are driving 80 mph.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
@4meAndyou 🤣🤣🤣🤣
YoMomma · 41-45
I avoid men in general 🙂
GeniUs · 56-60, M
What sort of men do you people come into contact with? Most guys don't do any of this nonsense.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@GeniUs yes I do , don't take me too serious please. I kid around a lot
BlueVeins · 22-25
@GeniUs A small number of men can bother a large number of women. That's the trouble. Like, phone scammers are a tiny percentage of all people who use phones, yet I still get a hell of a lot of phone calls.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@BlueVeins That's exactly what I just said with the car analogy but do what it takes to get it out of your system, forget it and carry on with life.
lonelyloner · 31-35, F

@DearAmbellina2113 I can't understand why more people don't realize on all sides that if you're talking sһit to me about someone, I assume you would talk sһit to someone else about me.
