If you used Yahoo Answers! in the past and it came back, would you use it again?

I liked Yahoo Answers!, but things were a bit off for me. So if you asked a simple 1 or 2 sentence question, you'd typically get at most 3 responses. If your question was 3 paragraphs because of how it had to be explained, you'd get no responses.

I like using SW because I can ask a question and typically get an answer, but I also like it because of the open format it has, with being able to communicate with other members. YA! was heavily against replies, and only wanted to be a question and answer website.

If YA! came back in the format it was in, would you continue using it or would you use SW or other sites?
[c=BF0000]I think its shit that they took all languages off but the Japanese or China one is still up! Or was back when they took it down during when life was shit..[/c]

Why, is Elon buying that too? 😂

@Zaphod42 Twitter headline, "Elon Musk revives Yahoo Answers! to its former glory" lol. Guarantee it'd be trolls everywhere, unless it's heavily moderated.

There's nothing left for me on Yahoo Answers, even if it was brought back.
The people I had as friends are long gone, mostly dead.

As for the questions and answers...it's like almost anywhere.... simple or fun gets lots more replies than serious or long posts.

I don't think I like this site any better. I finally realize that what I'm looking for can't be replaced. I made friends that kept in contact off the site... but they no longer exist... so... it really depends on what you need, want and are looking for.

@SW-User What you said makes sense to me 🙂

I use this site here as a replacement for Yahoo Answers! and so far it's worked well for me.

Sorry to hear about your friends :(
SW-User
@twiigss I'm glad it's working out for you. :)
As for my friends, thank you. I got to know some of them really well and it was really hard to just leave all that behind when Yahoo announced the shut down. Yes, they offered to let you keep your own questions and answers, but there was nothing offered for friends that were gone.

I only used to really to have some laughs after a really bad day, the amount of nonsense you could find on that website was rather impressive.
familyfunguy · 56-60, M
If the type and level of activity would be about the same as it's later days, sure. Light usage for me, but it wouldn't be the go-to site it once was for me at one time.

@MrBrownstone Oh ok.
JohnOinger · 41-45, M

I would use Yahoo Answers and SW
REMsleep · 41-45, F
I wouldn't use it but for years I was a pretty high level answerer. I liked the points system where we got voted for best answers and how there were levels.
The categories were very effective. I used to ask alot of math questions at one point and I got alot of help.

The last 4 or 5 years I wasn't on it because I didn't need to use and also it became filled with spam, racisim, dirty talk. It wasn't even serving its purpose anymore. Hardly anyone seriously answered any questions.
twiigss · M
@REMsleep I would still get serious answers, but it came down to, how long the question was. My problem is that I would have to explain the setup of what was going on, before I could explain the actual problem. And sometimes, my question would end up being 3 or 4 paragraphs long, and I wouldn't even get an answer.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@twiigss Yes, the quality of people answering the questions went way down. 50% of questions were troll posts
People didn't want to read anymore.
twiigss · M
@REMsleep Yep. So every now and then I'd see stuff on posts TLDR. So at the start of my posts I would write, TLDR? Too bad.

My whole thing was, if you can't be bothered to read a post just a few paragraphs long, like come on, it can't be that hard. Now I have seen some posts here where its like you have to scroll down for a good 10 seconds just to see all the words, a lot of those kinds of posts is just nonsense, so I won't read those. And they don't have punctuation. It's just a string of words talking about nothing.

But I think a lot of the decent people left the site after some time. I distinctly remember a profile by the name of Bob who was a top answerer for the Computers category, but think he only ever answered one of my questions. Abrexo (I don't remember the name exactly) was also on there who I think answered a couple of my questions, and then they just stopped using the site I'm guessing.

SO,,,,,, what if someone offered you a new place like Y!A ?

@SW-User I do use Quora and Reddit already. So this isn't the only place I go to, but it is my main spot as I use it for my YA! replacement. But I'm not going to pay money for something when I can get it from somewhere else for free. And if free goes away, I'll stop using it.

Kinda like the online news MarketPlace. They want you to pay a subscription to read articles, I simply back out and get the news elsewhere. I'm not paying to read a news article, when 10 or 20 other places have it available without having to pay them money.
SW-User
@twiigss It is free also, just ads asking you to upgrade like this place has VIP
