Elon Musk and Twitter... 🤦🏾‍♂️

Elon Musk bought the company on Thursday.

He immediately fired the CEO and CFO.

He did not communicate via official channels with employees; no email, no town hall.

He is publicly mocking Twitter's existing processes, including the new manager training.

He's brought in external advisors and external software engineers, whom current Twitter employees feel are calling the shorts.

He said he'd fire 75% of staff, then walked back on this.

He put artificial, very aggressive, deadlines in place.

He indirectly mandated working over the weekend by setting a Monday morning demo deadline, on a Saturday.

The way Elon Musk is continuously showing total disregard and disrespect for people during his first moves on Twitter is staggering. I wonder if the company will ever recover culturally, and also what Tesla employees may be thinking right now.

Then, why did they sell it to him? Greed? What does that say about them? If anyone screwed the employees it certainly started at the very top of Twitter.

Firing those circle jerk CEOs followed by taking out the trash was the best thing to happen to the company since it's bleeding $4M a day.

Elon bringing in his trusted and exceptional software team to rebuild the company from the ground up is the common sense thing to do to reconfigure, streamline and improve the product back to profitability.

He doesn't have to communicate via official channels, or any channels for that matter. They (Twitter employees) just need to be shown the proverbial door. Twitter's existing processes were a proven failure. Enough said.

"He put artificial, very aggressive, deadlines in place." This is intentional in order to force the remaining employees to get their act together - Now. Kind of like the NFL's 2 Minute Warning. Get your shit together or lose. You're lucky you're not fired - Yet.

"He indirectly mandated working over the weekend by setting a Monday morning demo deadline, on a Saturday." I often work Saturday and Sunday (like yesterday and later on today), so what? Have you ever worked on call, or two weeks in a row? You should try it, it builds resilience, character, and an appreciation of what you have - like your job.

No one is guaranteed a job.

Elon Musk, through his take-no-prisoners team, is in the process of creating a different culture. One of his own making because He Owns It. But first he must take out the trash.

Quite bluntly, Tesla employees are very likely laughing at the pompous, entitled, conceited former Twitter employees that don't have jobs right now and had plenty of time to clearly see it coming. Tesla employees already know Elon very well, that's why they're there in the first place. His people are tough, hardened, experienced professionals. Not crybabies at their former nursery - Qwitter.

Now excuse me while I fill out an online application to work for his highly successful SpaceX company nearby as I have a background in the aerospace industry. I hear he pays Really Well.

You should worry about how you're running your life instead of overthinking how any billionaire is running his companies.. Musk has hundreds of ridiculously qualified people working for him to give him what he exactly wants from his deals. 🤷

Twitter is a PRIVATE company and can do what it wants!
@MrBrownstone The employees aren't hypocrites. They're just concerned that Musk will run Twitter into the ground. The ones who can get out now are leaving. It's the conservatives who were drooling over Musk ending content moderation who are now finding out that he's only interested in how much money he can squeeze out of them.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom Exactly. It’s a private company and can do what it wants. It DOES NOT belong to the employees. What they want is irrelevant. They should start their own social media platform.
@MrBrownstone Then we agree. So I assume you don't think the federal government should impose rules on social media to make sure they give both sides equal time or don't ban accounts that you personally approve of? Conservatives are still upset about Twitter banning Trump, and Musk hasn't said if he will reinstate Trump's account. But it's a private company, so he can show favoritism any way he likes, right?

he bought it, he can do whatever he wants with it. 🤷‍♂️

If I were him, I'd troll everyone for amusement until I got bored, then delete the whole site... 🤔

He needs to make everyone else pay the price that he overpaid for the company. Tesla employees are already accustomed to his behaviour. Twitter won't recover. The founder of Twitter is counting on it; that is why he is starting a new social media company that is currently in beta.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@MarkPaul I did research. And since you can't answer a question. Bye bye
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MrBrownstone You didn't do the research. And, since you don't have the balls to admit it... see ya.
@MrBrownstone There we’re no “months of riots” outside of Tucker Carlson’s imagination.

Musk has long been known as a horrible boss, he might be a smart but he's also a very well known arrogant prick.

Heck, he didn't actually want to buy Twitter, he just wanted to play games with them and maybe get out of government legal troubles he's in for being an arrogant prink on Twitter. Seemed like he believed if he owned Twitter the government wouldn't have any say about what he said there about stocks, but that was dead wrong as stocks and the potential manipulation of them has nothing to do with weather you own the platform of speech or not. Also seemed like he was trying to get some end roads in with the Republicans and may e unbanning trump.

Twitter employees deserve it
He'll clean house and replace them. Life goes on
you gave me the idea for the "I love Elon Musk more than any of you" post...

I'll see what happens.

he probably wants people to quit
PatKirby · M
@Penny ^Bingo^ This!

Twitter is not going to recover. The silicon valley will absorb the talent Twitter is shedding, and the new generation is on TikTok, not Twitter.

TikTok, however is a Chinese operation. So, perhaps the goal was to take Twitter out, and migrate everyone to TikTok. After all Musk responds with "how high", when Xi says "jump".

He’s just being petty. It’s a little vendetta.
You can be sure many employees are updating their resumes. If Twitter gets a reputation as a bad place to work, or worse, isn’t something you want on your resume, they won’t be able to attract top people. This is the problem sites like Parler and TruthSocial have.

{@ihateviolence] i think personally tim nice but dim is acting like the new broom that sweeps clean and will do twitter more harm than good , 🤷‍♂️ but you got too give the guy a chance and see what direction he takes twitter
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
The only good thing coming out of this is the world seeing that the richest man alive is actually an infantile idiot with very little to offer. Good lesson.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I don't know much about Twitter, I've never looked at it, but isn't it just another waste of time like 99% of the Internet?
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Tbh I couldn't give less of a shit. It's a toxic mess anyway, people are overreacting.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
Those people suck, they got what they deserved
@MrBrownstone Conservatives like Michael Savage are already complaining.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom Don’t know who he is or care.
@MrBrownstone I'm glad you're happy with the new direction Twitter is going. I'm sure when Musk in desperation starts charging users a monthly fee just to use the app, you'll gladly pay up.
