What if we could get a notification when someone screenshots one of our pictures? It would probably help cut down on the people saving users selfies without permission.
@SooperSarah It's because web browsers do not get knowledge about when screenshots are taken. In theory you could make a web browser that did, but then someone could just use a different browser. In mobile apps that notify users about screenshots, it's reliant on everyone using the same app (and the app having access to the screenshot service in the device. Windows does not tell web browsers about screenshotting, for example).
Technically impossible. The moment someone sees a pic, they "have" the pic, locally. Screenshotting or saving it will only make a copy, locally, and there's no way the site or app may know.
@SooperSarah The app can intercept the screenshot event, sure; but it's not impossible nor difficult for anyone who's skilled enough to prevent the app from getting that event altogether.
Or there's even the redneck engineering alternative that is taking a pic of the screen with another phone (and I've seen it happening lol), and there's no way for any app to intercept that.
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether They're hacks at best. You can disable the right click or the long tap, and if I recall correctly TripAdvisor does it, but it's also extremely trivial to bypass those. The moment someone sees the image you should always assume they can save, screenshot or even share it.
@HootyTheNightOwl But I get that we should all take steps to protect ourselves. Don’t post something that could be used against you. But I’m just saying that when a girl posts a selfie and someone saves it, it’s creepy and weird. Like photographing someone in public.
@Straylight I don't share pictures of myself publicly to prevent any possibilities of anyone taking my pictures.
People passing your work off as their own is covered by copyright law - though, good luck proving that you own the copyright to the work... even when it's a picture of yourself.
This problem isn't just restricted to girls, though... I'm sure that guys go through the exact same thing.
Would the admins even know when that happens? If that were a thing... or rather... If we could prevent screen shots then I'd be more inclined to maybe participate sometimes. 🤷♀️
Besides being technically infeasible, such functions are also of little use. If you don't want people to save your photos, simply don't share any with them.

This cannot be done here in it's current state. Also very hard to do when it's a full app, but it is possible up to a limited scope. I do wish it can be done though.
even if they did there are still Brower add on/ screen recording and so on that wouldn't really stop anything even if someone is on a computer they can still take a picture of the screen with their phone nothing that can really be controlled, it sucks that people can do it but there is really nothing that can be done about it
@TheLordOfHell The moment someone sees a pic, they "have" the pic... it's best to just not share it if you don't want it lifted - or get something you can blackmail them back with...
Who downvoted this. I would tag them, it’s what I do.
Unfortunately I don’t think there’s anything we can do to stop someone. If you don’t want someone saving your picture then it shouldn’t be posted because even posting it for a minute leaves it open to be saved. It sucks that creeps would do this but they do.
I get that it's frustrating. I've had my profile picture stolen by a couple of different people who thought it was funny. Since it's an original creation of mine, I reported the hell out of it until the admins deleted the picture from their possession. I highly recommend that approach.
