how do you 'contain' your anger towards people you find annoying online

i have very little tolerance and patience with people i find annoying, and at times i get so intensely angry by people's comments or just what someone has posted, i feel tempted to post an aggressive comment back at that person? but i daren't do that because i don't want any trouble, you have to be careful online now.

there's times i'm sat here staring at someone's comment online which annoyed me, and i'm clenching my teeth at that person, i even make growling noises sometimes i get so angry.....i get advised a lot to not be in front of my computer all the time and go do other things, get jobs done etc....but i am kind of addicted to being online and have done for a while....and i get really drawn in and involved, with things i ordinarily wouldn't, because some pig online has really got to me with their comments.

thoughts?

One way to deal with it is what you did with this post. Vent about it somewhere else instead of commenting to that person.

Besides, sometimes I feel like 'no response' has more of an impact than responding. Most people are trying to get a reaction out of you, and by not responding, you're robbing them of that.

Well, do as you must, but anger only hurts you.

Think about changing the mind of someone that’s pissed you off. Online, the odds are close to 0%.

People only react, generally speaking, to their own reality. You may see an issue as black and white. Someone else may have life experiences that prove an entirely different reality.

There’s more than one reality in life on any issue. Give others their space. Find common ground, not differences.

It’s much healthier. So is logging off. Real life is much better. 😉

One needs to get away from them, because it seems to only get worse once they've become annoying to us. Whether it's logging off, blocking or muting. Even if in your circle, you can mute for a while.

You need to have an online detox every now and then. Push yourself to at least try it once. Majority of people who give up smoking have multiple attempts.

If they cannot carry on a civil discussion without name calling, labeling, etc., I figure they are only there for the satisfaction of seeing my reaction. I deprive them of a reaction. Zero. Nada. Not even a block. On to more constructive things.

Meh, you’re all figments of my fairly deranged imagination anyway, and it’s hard to stay mad at myself 🤷‍♂😂😋
