A grey and cloudy day today, around about 0 C. Some snowfall and a southerly breeze. A comfortable temperature but much higher humidity than yesterday. Even though it wasn't snowing or raining when I was out walking my coat was quite damp by the time I got back.

That looks much like our river here as the barge traffic has broken up much of the ice. We’re at 9C presently so our early morning snow has melted. Once again you do post fantastic pictures. Thanks!

@SageWanderer Thank you! I think it has become much easier to take good pictures now that almost every mobile has a good camera and that storage space is so cheap. I can take a dozen pictures without worrying about the cost of development and without having to delete anything to make space for storing them. Then I can pick the best one.

The ice you see here is mostly ice from the inner fjord that floated out on the other tide. The outer fjord doesn't freeze except in exceptionally cold winters but the inner and outer parts are divided by a sound that is only 180 m wide and the inner part is wider than the outer. The salinity is lower because it is fed by river so it freezes sooner and the narrowness of the sound means that the tidal range is smaller there so the ice doesn't break up so easily.

The tide was running in at about a metre per second close to the edge, presumably faster in the middle. When it's running out it can reach 2.5 m/s (5 knots). It's not a good idea to try to fight against it if you fall in and people have died in the attempt after falling in.

@WillaKissing I had the impression your were an outdoor person and you look pretty fit (in both senses of the word) so I'm pretty sure you'd be fine; perhaps best to leave the heels behind though :-)

@ninalanyon Yes, thank you I am, and exactly yes, it is the heels left behind that shivers me Bones! LOL

Remember that I said I was making a skirt from a tee shirt? You won't be surprised that I decided that it was too long. I thought first that I'd just trim it but then I remembered that I had dress made of tee shirt material that was fringed with beads. Here it is.

But my tee shirt is made of much lighter material and also I don't want to cut it to make quite such a long fringe so I decided to add beads.

I've only put half the beads on, it was very tedious because the holes in the beads I have are barely large enough to push the material through so I gave up for the moment. Here's the back side

And here the front with the beads

When I looked out from the church steps to the fjord I was momentarily disconcerted to see the ice floating past to the left, towards the inner fjord rather than out to sea.

It's not a mystery of course because the fjord is tidal, it just seems that I rarely catch the tide visibly running in.

Great pick and I hope the walk was soothing.

Today's outfit is the long fluffy coat, fluffy hat, and fluffy mittens. Very comfortable.

Brrrr....I'd be freezing, yikes!

@eyeno
Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær
Or in English, but it doesn't rhyme:
There's no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing

Which means you just need to dress properly. I was wearing a miniskirt, blouse, light jumper, and thick tights with long boots and I was perfectly comfortable.

Anyway, it was about +2 C, practically tropical. Ten days ago it was -13 C. :-)
