Brainstorming ideas for new blog

I just recently looked into the idea of starting my own blog. I have always been told I am a strong writer, and I genuinely do try to believe in myself. However, I'm not certain if I'm good enough to be successful at something like that. I have searched for niche topics online to see what people started writing their blogs about, they seem to write about their field of expertise. I did not go to college, and am not certified in anything. Most of my work experience is in customer service. I thought to write about that, but thought that just seemed like to vague of a topic that I'll eventually run out of ideas to talk about. Although I dont have much knowledge to offer, I do have a lot of experience with life. Definitely not the most, as I am only 26 and still have much of life left to live. But I have experienced a lot of crazy moments, been brought through and can talk about life experiences for days and days - which can branch out into so many other topics. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Please let me know your suggestions, thank you :)

Don't look for a specific topic or angle, just write about your life and how you see things, what you think about them. Write about what you know. It might be something you noticed in the store, something someone said that interested you, something you've seen on the news. But write from your own perspective. If you blogged once a week or every three days, it would remain fresh. It's not a diary, so you wouldn't have to write it every day.

I'd advise you to read as much as you can, novels, short stories, poems. Reading a lot will help you to understand how to write and express your thoughts clearly. Think of a snappy name for your blog, something witty and memorable. Remember: write what you know, which is you, your life, how you see things.

@Richard65 thank you so much! Yes, because I don’t have much experience or expertise. This was very helpful in starting my journey, I wrote your tips in my notes ❤️

A lot of the successful bloggers I've seen are successful because they never gave up, and just kept posting about random things. If you love writing, love sharing your everyday life or a passion you have, you CAN make it. But it takes dedication, there's a lot of competition and you need to find out who you want your "audience" to be. 🥹

@in10RjFox I'm still on insta and have a niche, but now I'm only using it for myself and whoever feels like following along can, but I'm not trying to become an influencer or make money of it rn🥹

@Cassieeeee thank you Cassie, that’s one thing I’m just a bit confused about. If I’m just starting out and I don’t have an audience, how do I appeal to one?
Cassieeeee · 31-35, F
@Edashh2399 It depends on what platform you're using. But if you're thinking of starting a "regular" blog, I would advice you to open some sort of social media as well, that way you can try to attract a following and send them to your blog. The more views your blog gets, the more likely it is that other people will start seeing it as well. But it's hard starting out.

I would suggest just start writing. Don't try to plan it out before hand. Just write and see what comes out. Now, what comes out may or may not be anything you want to put in a blog. It may be that you write for a bit just to get the feel for it and then look back and make plans based on that.

Good luck to you.
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@DunningKruger I started writing earlier today, and so far I’m very happy with how it’s starting to come together. However, I see I’m gonna need to do a LOT more research on my end haha. I’m actually excited about it
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Edashh2399 There you go. Take a step, see where it gets you, then take another step.
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
@Ghostinthemachine Don't worry about being successful and focus on having fun with it. Your life experience is valid. To a 16 year old you're an elder so don't worry about your age. What are you passionate about? What's the one thing you won't stop talking/thinking about?
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@PinkMoon That's what I thought to myself to, I don't want it to solely be about succeeding or making money. I actually really love writing. I'm very passionate about writing and language arts. I also like to research various topics I'm interested in. And I think about the stories and experiences I've had that learned a lot from.

I strongly suggest checking out Jon Morrow. He has a ton of great advice on how to make a successful blog. I have learned a lot from him. He has a lot of free resources. https://smartblogger.com/
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@ShadowSister I looked into the site yesterday, did you have to pay to get started on that site? Jc
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Edashh2399 No, but that was a few years ago. He may have changed the way it works.

This was one of my favorite posts from him: https://problogger.com/how-to-quit-your-job-move-to-paradise-and-get-paid-to-change-the-world/
Check out this post and the embedded links: https://smartblogger.com/jon-morrow-confession/
Check out his blog posts about blogging: https://smartblogger.com/blog/
Here is a free report you can in exchange for your email: https://copyblogger.com/headline-hacks-report/

Those should get you started. There's three different sites there, which will in turn lead you to more resources. I think those three blogs about blogging (copyblogger, problogger, smartblogger) are all good. Good luck!

Kind of a saturated market
Do you have hobbies?
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@Matt85 not really, but I do love writing
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Just write. The ideas will come. In fact I am quite confident that after a short while you will have more to write about than you have time to write.

The big thing is to get started.
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@ninalanyon thank you, I started writing today and I think it’s coming together nicely. It just needs fact checking and researching which can take a little minute
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Edashh2399 You've had two weeks now, How's it going?

To learn about good flow watch thoughty2 and mrballen on youtube.
To learn about compelling content read Samuel Clemens and Edgar Allen Poe.
Edashh2399 · 26-30, F
@SW-User that’s crazy, I actually already watch both of them! Especially mr. ballen

But I will definitely look into those two.

You must be having some hobbies. Start exploring them deeply with passion. Write/share your journey, experiences, learnings and tips to help other people who wanted to follow those hobbies.
Filipinalez · 18-21, F

Whatever you’re passionate about… put pen to paper’

Writing from the heart becomes poetically fresh that some people can relate to or even help in their troubled times

From the coffee you had a couple of hours ago to the bad headline you read in the news today it’s all relevant

A poignant reminder that we are human … that words help us move on by expressing our feelings

For me it’s those simple moments that we take for granted that keep us going from a delicious homemade meal to cheesy music in the car … hugs … tears in the rain

Life 🙏🏼💐✨
