I use it when I see something that made me laugh.
But I notice many people use it in a passive-aggressive way to tell you that you are ridiculous.
You know by the nature of the conversation.
However, I don't get why would someone put it on an obviously sad post and it pisses me off because there's no way to react back to them. I'm not going to tag them and call them out.

@CrazyMusicLover I use it for both 🤔
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Elessar I guess I used to but now I refrain from doing it.

@CrazyMusicLover sometimes ridiculous is funny though. But I try to be conscious of others emotions

I use it when I think a post was clever or funny. I see people use it when trying to ridicule something, but if it’s a serious topic, it sometimes makes me think less of them, for example a guy using it as a reaction to a story about a pregnant rape victim dying from sepsis when the fetus died in utero, but it was illegal to extract the remains.

@caPnAhab I just realized, I also use it in that sense.

@LordShadowfire The only explanation that might not make him a monster was perhaps he didn’t believe this had actually happened to someone. But the poster provided a link.

@bijouxbroussard Yeah, it's really scary what people live in denial of.

I think the person thought my post was funny or relatable and is laughing with me, although I have been laughed at too.

@Jeephikelove @caPnAhab It can be hard to tell, sometimes
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
@SeaGlass absolutely

Whenever I see that specific emoji in my mind I'm seeing this:
I usually use it as 'this is my reaction to that'

I use it if something makes me laugh, almost exclusively. I rarely ever use it to mock someone, because comments that deserve it are rare and usually designed to provoke that exact feeling/reaction. I'm not here to please anyone like that, but sometimes my snarkiness gets the best of me, you know. I'm not perfect.
Edited to add: I would never mock someone's misfortune. It's mostly political stuff that triggers me... so I try to avoid it.

I never got into using them much.

We just laugh at you 😁

A little bit of both for me. I want the original poster to know I am only coming back with a humorous reply and sarcasm or a put down.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
More users lately use it the ridiculous since. I only use it for something funny.
I use it when I find a post/reply funny. But I’ve noticed that some use it in a mocking way.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I've never thought about it that way. I always use it when I think something is funny.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire I think most people do, I do too. I probably put a bit too much thought into it
Still I think there's at least a little bit of merit
