Take 10mg melatonin (over the counter) an hour before you want to sleep. No whiskey or cigars, though. You need to find another way to relax. Read or watch something boring. You need to de-stimulate your body and mind.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@MsSwan I've tried that on and off for years and it's never really helped me. I don't know if I could up my nightly cigar and whiskey. My partner drinks with me and he falls asleep with no issues
@Cigarguy I know, but it doesn't affect him the same way. I'm not saying you should give it up forever. Maybe just for a little while so you can see if it helps you to get some rest.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@MsSwan at this point I might try it. I love cigars but I can't keep this up.

sit, one hand on your belly, another hand on your heart. Stay for a while. Get some oil. Do a little hands massage. Massage your eyebrows, the temples, the area underneath and to the sides of your lips, your earlobes. Take a breath. Let your shoulders relax and drop.
Make a chamomile tea
You're juggling enough.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Boeing my biggest issue is that if I don't fall asleep within 20 to 30 minutes either my tics make me get up or my anxiety makes me get up because I feel like I said be doing something since I'm awake.

And your welcome for the bc.
Boeing · 36-40
@Cigarguy yes that's why a small release before can keep the anxiety levels lower.. I trust in that you will figure it out.Try that, let me know. Also lavender essential oil, you can add it in the oil mix.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Boeing I'm willing to try just about anything right now

Firstly, deficiencies in D³, Iron, Magnesium, and B vitamins (6, 12, etc.) could be the culprit. Perhaps have some blood work done to check those levels.

Secondly, if you look at your phone a lot in the evening, right up until you sleep, pick up a pair of blue light blocking glasses - available and relatively cheap on Amazon. And, if you have a habit of picking up your phone each time you wake up during the night, move it across the room where that's not possible. Phones are a detriment to sleeping on so many levels.

Good luck in finding the remedy for your insomnia. I struggle with it as well. Ninety nine % of the time, it's my Mag, D³, & B levels that are to blame.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@LadyBronte I don't use my phone after 11 and I don't have the TV on either. I've had tons of blood work done it's just frustrating.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Cigarguy Depending on which blood panel(s) the doc orders, you may not have gotten those. If you're unsure, I'd call the office to ask. Good luck. I hope you find something that works for you.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@LadyBronte thank you again for your advice and I differently look into it. My partner is better at keeping track of what labs I've had recently
i know someone who uses cbd oil and swears by it @NativePortlander1970 might have more input to that...he knows more about that kind of product than i do...but look into it
@Hatt94 Per serving
Hatt94 · 56-60, MVIP
@NativePortlander1970 so it isn't strong enough to activate the CBD.
@Hatt94 It is not strong enough.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
You are completely stressed. Especially about what happened with Star. Even the smallest things can stress us out and can contribute to a lack of sleep. This happens to me also. Maybe listening to nature sounds will help.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Barefooter25 I did get some sleep last night so I feel much better today. Someone else suggested nature sound or white noise I might look into that more too

@Cigarguy This is an app for your phone:

I saw a commercial on TV about hempvana...which is not the same as CBD oil with CBN...but somewhat similar, I suppose...and the guy said that all the anger and the noise in his head just...stopped.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@4meAndyou I'll have to look into that
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
If you haven’t already tried Magnesium please do it works great.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst I have very bad anxiety so I'll check with my doctor
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Cigarguy Ask them for sleeping pills if you havent, the good ones. Maybe if you just get 1 week of normal sleep your body will snap out of it, unless it's something else.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst I take a lot of sleeping pills. They aren't very effective
LavidaRaq · F
Have you tried cbd?

If you decide to try it you should look for cbd with cbn.
LavidaRaq · F
@NativePortlander1970 now there are all kinds of isolates. They need to leave the plant alone.
@LavidaRaq 20 odd years ago the French tried to synthesize thc that was intoxication free, the problem is that it put over 100 test subjects into comas with brain damage, it was all over the news at the time, now all references of it has been scrubbed off the internet.
LavidaRaq · F
@NativePortlander1970 that’s awful.
Lilymoon · F
Zopiclone knocks me out for 6-8 hours when I need it.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Lilymoon is it a prescription or over the counter
Lilymoon · F
@Cigarguy scrip
Levenrack · 46-50, M
Just curious, @Cigarguy, in the rare instances when you can relax enough to fall asleep, can you even enter a REM state of sleep?
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@Levenrack not very often
YoMomma ·

Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@YoMomma you are so sweet thank you
YoMomma ·
@Cigarguy anyway whatever is causing your lack of sleep.. hope you get a break ☺
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@YoMomma thank you
WasEP · 51-55, M
Get drunk and pass out. 😂
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@WasEP I rarely drink to get drunk. I just enjoy the taste of whiskey with a cigar
Musicman · 61-69, M
Praying for a goodnight sleep right now 🙏🙏🙏
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Cigarguy No worries. Being as tired as you are that is quite understandable.

@Cigarguy No worries. I would be upset too. You definitely need sleep too.
Try a white noise machine on barely audible, the sound will distract your brain, preferably waterfall, babbling brook, ocean surf, or gentle rain.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M
@NativePortlander1970 our daughter uses one. I will have to try one.
@Cigarguy They do great
