I haven't had any luck but my buddy makes him self favored tooth picks he said it helps with the hand mouth fixation

@TunOfflap thank you thats a great idea

When I switched to a vape, the physical results started within a week or two. Stopped coughing. Better breathing. No cig stink. No holes burned in clothes and tablecloths.

One of the reasons I like the vape is because you can have one puff to still cravings instead of committing to a whole cigarette. Of course you can also take a hundred puffs on the vape, so controlling that is your responsibility.

In the past couple of months, I noticed that I am forgetting to smoke the vape for longer periods.

I would suggest it might be better to start out with a disposable vape, to get used to the practice.

@Mamapolo2016 yeah. i miss vaping. i cant vape though. vaping gives me plantar fasciitis which is swelling in the ligaments of the feet. idk why could be something to do with a weird unknown metal skin allergy i have. maybe teh metals in the coils do it but i know its from vaping cause when i stop it goes away and start it comes back.
@Penny That’s a new one on me, but I’ve had a go-round with plantar fasciitis, and I’d avoid it too!

This worked for me - whenever I got a cold, complete with a hacking cough, that's when I couldn't smoke. So, when I really wanted to quit, I waited til I got sick again then I quit. I'd already been without cigarettes for a week or so which made it easier to go - day by day - a week then a month then 18 years without smoking.

@RenFur keep coming your doing awsome

Cold turkey its mind over matter and when you look at the money your spending daily weekly monthly yearly and your money going up in smoke by you smoking is probably between $1,500 and $3,500 a year in cigarettes for most people its aroubd $ 3,000 to $ 3,500 a year that they smoke some are even closer to $ 4,000 a year and when you also look at your health that you are damaging from throad lung kidney liver rectal orvarian breast brain cancers smoking and drinking is not worth smoking drinking eatables marijuna ext

Read the Easy Way To Quit Smoking by Alan Carr before you quit.

Then go to a local vape shop, buy a vape starter kit, get them to show you how to assemble everything.

Start vaping. Slowly ween yourself off the nicotine.

It's not so much the chemical addiction as the physical addiction, but I find avoiding the chemicals helps with the physical.

Maybe you get addicted to vaping, you probably don't. If you do, it's cheaper, and potentially healthier. Which will buy you more time to tackle and overcome this obstacle in your life.

Stock up on gum and sparkling flavor beverages like Buble.

@Penny The book encourages you to smoke while reading it. So set a date for quitting, and start the book the week before that date.
@Penny There are numerous coping mechanisms. Open a new savings account and bank what you’d spend on cigs. (I remember reading tips like this. One was, “spend time in places where you don’t smoke…like the bathtub. My reaction? I smoke in the bathtub!”)

@Mamapolo2016 A cigar, a bottle of mineral water, and a bath. That's a nice relaxing afternoon for me. Booze would probably work too, depending on the week.

The problem for me is my body is weak as I've smoked more than 60 + years. And I dont know how to except the change when I stop.

Yet I keep on trying, I'll never give up trying to do so.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@eyeno You should really find a good local vape shop to help you get going with a starter kit. The coughing, sputtering, and breathing clears up better. Juice is cheaper. And it gives you an exciting hobby to learn.
eyeno · M
@SnailTeeth unfortunately I've tried it all as far as tobacco products go. 👍🏻
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@eyeno Best of luck then. Sorry there's no easy fix for everyone.

God. It's a struggle
😞🤔🙄🤗🤗🙏🙏

@Montanaman i lasted 4 hours lol. Though its not funny. So ill have to keep all this advice for next time.
I've never smoked but my grandfather use to smoke 100 cigarettes a day until he was 55..tried quitting a thousand times and then he had a major stroke and then he never smoked again...definitely don't wait that long!

I can only speak from my own experience I'm afraid: sheer willpower. You have to really want to quit. Substitutes never worked for me. (Brutal, I'm afraid. I'm coming up to 18 years since my last).

If you give in a have a smoke then don't quit trying to quit, just try to go longer without having another one.

Before I quit for good, I failed a bunch and then ended up smoking more than I started,

but then I remember trying to quit, but then failed (had 1 or 2 in the same day) and then tried to keep it to only 1 or 2 a day, then after a few days just 1...
then eventually 0

also, take breaks from whatever your doing if you get frustrated,
remember, you're quitting smoking not quitting breaks 😅

Maybe try picking up a hobby to distract you from cravings
Nebula · 41-45, F
I used these Harmless cigarettes to quit five years ago
Montanaman · M
@Nebula 🙄but they taste like green grass burning 🤪
Nebula · 41-45, F
@Montanaman more like flavored air but it helps with the oral compulsion
@Montanaman Personally, I like burning green grass.
Eat a piece of hard candy or chew sugar free gum every time you crave a cigarette. Once you quit you can quit eating candy or go sugar free for a while until the cravings stop.

I have heard people talking in this area about a Russian hypnotist who has very good results. He will give a second session for free if you go back to smoking.
Drink a lot of water when you feel the urge, also suck on a mint, or get some exercise instead of picking up a cigarette 😀
