I think a lot of societal ill these days is caused by people allowing the perfect to be the enemy of the good.

So many people refuse to recognize when things are improving or when something good is happening of it isn't exactly how they want things to be. There's a lack of tolerance for little flaws and a lack of patience for improvement over time. We want everything to be perfect right now and anything less means the world is awful.

We, as a society, need to slow our roles and actually take stock of what good is around us.
Well said plus there’s so much hatred and division which causes rational thought allowing for acknowledgement of improvement to go out the window.

You are correct.. And it doesnt help that we cant agree what the "perfect" is to start with.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I do not think that level of agreement is even possible let alone desirable. One of the reasons we can even have trouble reaching good is because so many assume their own perfect would be everyone else's as well.

Unfortunately I think the whole capitalist system would topple over if people concluded that they were basicslly quite content with their lives.

An inability to compromise is the source of much discontent.

Would it be “slow our rolls”?

Unfortunately, government doesn't always accommodate "either or" very well. Like acceptance of diversity Vs comfort of the familiar.

@Heartlander The sentiment is not just at the governance level, but at the personal level as well.

@ViciDraco Yea, thanks for that adjustment.

People are addicted to negativity. They wanna see you fall. Not rise.

@jshm2 My sentiment applies to the personal level for people, not just the governance level.

@TrashCat I actually heard a podcast just yesterday that kind of flips that on its had. In that our religion followed our lifestyle instead of the other way around. The vast majority of hunter-gatherer societies we've been able to learn about were animists, religions that believed everything had a spirit and that we owed gratitude and care to those spirits. Thanking the deer that you have hunted. It wasn't until we started being agricultural and exercising dominion over land and beast did we start to see the rise of religions based on dominance. We are not wicked because of religion. Religion is wicked because of us.
