I feel this, really do.

A cabin in a rural area sounds better and better as I get older
@cherokeepatti Beach shack on the Oregon coast for me.

I felt that way for years. I’m not living in the woods, but I am surrounded by trees and waterways. It’s busy outside, but I am living the life of a semi-recluse. I’m as far from the mainstream of life as you can be while still living in an active place. It would be nice to have a relationship though, with someone who understands me. Not many do.

do you have any idea how scary that would be, at night
@Matt85 I've slept under the stars in the wilderness, it's nice.🤠

One solution is to move to a less populated area. It's what I did 30 years ago. On my street, the houses are surrounded by woods and each has 2+ acres, which gives quite a fair amount of privacy.

@4meAndyou I'll bet. I detest long driveways. My parents lived in a place like what you describe many years ago. It was deadly in the winter!

@SW-User We hired a neighbor with a plow...so...except for waiting for him, and the ice patches...not too bad.

@4meAndyou Good for you. My parents staunchly refused to hire someone... and my Mum went out there and fought the snow (with my help of course) when my Dad had cancer. Mum said no one could ever plow it out to her satisfaction. She was a perfectonist.

No one has to know. I'd do it myself. But this is Australia. I don't think I could survive in the bush without insect repellent.
@Thevy29 I would love to go hiking in Australia!!! It would totally be worth the risk.😂
@Thevy29 I've been in "wilderness" areas that were way out in no mans land. There are cameras hidden in the tree tops in the mountains... you can't be alone anywhere. I pissed off the rangers once because I went camping in the back country without asking permission to do what is my right as an American, tramp through the woods with my dog. Not sure if they were more pissed that I refused to get a permit, or that it took 3 days for them to catch up with me.😂
I told them I had no ID and they asked, "What if you get attacked by a bear?"

😂😂"The bear won't care if I have ID." 😎😂

I wouldn't mind living in a cabin in the woods...as long as I could drive to the grocery store in 15 minutes or less, and get takeout delivered if I wanted it...🤣🤣🤣

In Hindu tradition it is a high ideal, to go off and live as a forest-dwelling hermit. Maybe you should move to India?

Taking up residence in the woods is a GREAT idea and I don't care who frowns upon it !

Who broke your heart?
@SW-User Just people in general... I would rather be around animals.
