Not Kmart in any form. That place just had a "junk drawer" vibe about it.
I never cared for blockbuster.
Not Toys r us, was the reason Children's Palace closed.
So, I pick Circuit City. For the reason @jackjjackson mentioned.

It was always brightly lit, clean, nice design and the latest tech stuff. Great place to browse and buy elsewhere.

Of those 4, I would choose K-Mart. The store I really miss is Sears who merged with K-Mart in 2005.

@BrewCityBarfly They also had the Kenmore appliance brand too.
BrewCityBarfly · M
@Musicman Those were great brands. Still using my old Craftsman push mower, tools, and have fond memories of my Kenmore fridge, oven, washer, and dryer. I loved my old Kenmore electric stove, it had the best simmer. The fridge was still going strong after 20+ years and moving into the basement of the (then) new place. Wonder if the dude that bought it is still using it.

@BrewCityBarfly Sears definitely had some great brands. Their stuff seemed to hold up well too. You had confidence in them.

Probably K Mart. They used to be big in or near Lansing, Michigan. A lot of people shopped there!

K Mart. I used to get everything there. I miss them so much.

I miss the entertainment of all the women fighting over the blue light specials. Can you say free for all? 🤣

Probably Toys R Us for the kiddos. They need a bigger selection of toys so they can just be kids..
Musicman · 61-69, M
@moonlightlullaby And get them away from their screens for a few minutes.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Toys are us I enjoyed buying the kids christmas presents from that store
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Justmeraeagain It was definitely a fun place to go. Especially at the holidays. 🙂

Tough choice, but probably Blockbuster. It made movie nights a big deal.
SethGreene531 · M
@Musicman Hollywood Video was awesome too 👌
Ahh..such a happy memory! 😊
Yes, there was always a frozen item earmarked for Friday nights; and something sweet too.
Life's simple pleasures like this always yielded the greatest reward.

@SethGreene531 Yes! We didn't go out and we didn't spend a million dollars. A nice evening at home together and the wife didn't have to cook. 😊

It was definitely the store back in the days.

I want the K-Mart I remembered as kid. Not the Big K when they were dying

This was a typical K-Mart we used to shop at we I was kid

HoeBag · 46-50, F
@HumanEarth It is nostalgic NOW but when it was around, it was as much an embarrassment as walmart is today. Basically synonymous with low quality junk.
I always thought people were just saying that when I was a kid but one day I saw this commercial.
It shows the CEO walking one of the stores and talking about revamping the place because people want to be proud of where they shop.
I thought, "Ahh so it IS a problem."

@HoeBag Truth be told Walmart, Target, K-Mart, Woolworths, Gimbel's, Goldmann's, Benjamin Franklin, and countless others stores all carried the same stuff.
They had were all known discount stores. So of course your going to get what you pay for at them kind of stores
Gimbel's & Goldmann's them two were geared more between the lower and upper middle class incomes. But did carry some crappy junk to for the poor to buy when they would shop for the holidays
