On cold winter days do you think about the Florida Keys and Key West?

No I don’t. I’d be thinking about alligators if I start dwelling on Florida. Oklahomans have been finding alligators for a few years now. A young man I worked with was living on a ranch for room & board doing chores after his day job. They kept finding dead chickens in the chicken house & started watching. There was an alligator in the chicken house and they killed it. Less than 3-foot long but there’s a nearby lake, no telling how many more in this area that haven’t been found. The TV news didn’t even want to report on it because of so many other finds. I guess it is old news now.

@cherokeepatti they probably wanted to avoid Panic from people about the Alligators

No. I think of a friend who lives near there but I don't like that country. Okay, maybe to visit for a week or two. I would rather spend the time in the Northwoods with the woodstove warming my behind.

@bowman81 yes I see so many rural cabin photos interior and exterior and would love to spend a couple weeks in one with plenty of wood and food to cook and other things I need like cozy fleece blankets. That seems like such a peaceful way to spend a few weeks in the winter.

LOL every great once in a while when it gets dangerously cold, I think it would be nice to pop somewhere just a bit warmer, but I don’t like hot hot. J said the other night he’d happily be sitting on a beach in Hawaii but I reckon he’d be fine with the Keys. 😂

Nope. When I think of Florida, I think of sticky sweaty clothes, monstrously huge cockroaches and other bugs, and snakes and gators. I would only enjoy it if touring all the seafood restaurants. I would probably like that.

No. Never wanted to go to Florida.

I actually like visiting the seaside in the winter
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@meggie Exactly. It's as if I am experiencing the ocean on its own terms, directly and "purely", without the distraction of a crowd.
meggie · F
@DrWatson exactly. There are a few beaches with wind shelters where you really can sit and enjoy the sea with hardly a soul in sight.

Yes. The redfish are inshore in large schools during the winter...sight casting to them with a fly rod is a pure joy.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
yeah i think about you and your wife lounging around soaking up the Sun

@Stereoguy Right,

In my case, I haven´t retired , yet and I am actually looking for more job opportunities / sources of income.

No. I dislike hot and humid weather as much as I dislike freezing cold and snow and ice. I need a temperate climate.

I’d like seasons, with mild winters , not below freezing, and summers not above 80F, with low humidity. I don’t know if such a place exists. @Stereoguy

Yep!

And I'm only a few hours drive from there. Anything in the 50s or lower is positively freezing!

I think about spring, starting my seeds inside, my greenhouse and how I'll be able to spend more time outside when the weather is warmer. I will never see Florida or other places far away. I think about what I know will happen. :)

@Stereoguy I always found it funny that people needed rest from a vacation. lol

As for your neighbors, maybe they didn't go as far or do as much to tire them out?

Well I'm in the UK but I did go there when I s 6yrs old, with family. So I can say that I've been, lol. I remember driving across the 7 mile bridge. Is that still a thing? 🤔

We did the whole Disney experience, the Everglades, etc.
