Are you calm and collected? Do you faint, scream, or throw up? What if it was something serious, like a mouse running across the kitchen floor and you're in bare feet?
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I'm a fainter if there is a lot of blood.

I freeze in moments of high pressure or emergency. Let's just say I was not cut out to be a doctor or paramedic.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@DearAmbellina2113 I get a little woozy if the blood is mine, otherwise I'm ok with most body fluids.
Ive been summoned by screams countless times to squash spiders
CestManan · 46-50, F
@checkoutanytime I bet the first time you heard the primal scream you immediately grabbed your 357 thinking it was a human intruder.
Now it is like, "(sigh) where's my house slippers?"
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@CestManan can of hairspray and a lighter!
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I’m pretty unfazed by most things. People say I’m insanely calm. The only thing that really ever got to me was childbirth. The stress and blood just wasn’t for me. I had to sit down and have a drink with some sugar in it to offset my lightheadedness.
SW-User
I thought I'd faint but there is this unseen power that comes out of the blue to help me stay calm. I've experienced it in situations where my loved ones where in danger.

As for the casual stuff like the one you mentioned yeah I might act dumb 🙂
KeyserSoze · 31-35, M
Calm, collected and flat out Rambo till the fucker flies when you touch it, then I’m nope-ing the fuck outta house.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@KeyserSoze A man's got to know his limitations!
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Honestly, the only thing that makes me scream is a mouse running around in my house. I love them but just not in my house
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Jenny1234 only thing worse is when your cat catches it. --- and brings it to you. --- when you are in bed...!! Been there, done that!
Reject · 26-30, M
I usually get extremely serious and cold. People take it the wrong way, but that’s just me controlling myself.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Reject people say, "get a grip" then don't know how to deal when you actually do.
BarbossasHusband · 36-40, M
I used to think I'd freeze up, but have been proven to act as one is supposed to on 3 different occations.

Fire = get everyone out
Medical emergency = got help while calling the ambulance and giving them the info needed without panicking.
Car crash = make sure everyone involved is ok before checking the vehicle for damage.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@BarbossasHusband I've been in or at all manner of vehicle mishaps. I found the events seem to slow down after the first one or two. Practice make's perfect!
CestManan · 46-50, F
Never had to deal with any serious things like dealing with a lot of blood.
When I have seen 9-1-1 situations, I tend to be calm.

The only times I can recall freaking out is when I make a hamburger dinner THEN realize I am out of ketchup.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@CestManan I have found that 9-1-1 operators sometimes don't understand when someone calls and is all calm. Like they don't take it seriously if there isn't someone screaming in the background!
CestManan · 46-50, F
@GerOttman The times I have had to call it was either something that did not involve me, like if I saw a car accident or if it was an emergency that did not happen suddenly, like someone needing transported to the hospital but they couldn't just get into a car on their own.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@CestManan I had a front row seat a few weeks ago to a car v. motorcycle street fight. Bike lost... guy lived! fooled me..
SW-User
I would make a terrible doctor. I can handle my own blood but seeing someone else hurt or bleeding puts me into a spin. Took everything in me to remain calm when my son cracked his head roller skating and needed stitches. Head wounds bleed so much.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User But the 'mom' gene kicked in and you dealt! panic later..
SW-User
@GerOttman yes I was not pleased waiting in the ER for him to be seen but waited until the stitches were done to panic 😊
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User it's been said that when your first child gets a nosebleed you take them to the ER. When the third one does it you scream, "Don't bleed on the carpet!"
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Most of the timeI keep it together and if I can’t handle it I run to get help and pray while I am running. I’ve found that’s what works best for me.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@GerOttman I don’t pray out loud and I am not Catholic
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti I was raised Catholic, in my day you ran shouting Hail Mary's while your mom chased you with the strap. It was kind of an expression..
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@GerOttman Oh I can just picture that.
Usually calm , though lately less
SW-User
I stay calm and think smart
I just handle it.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F

@MalteseFalconPunch in a way I find going off on the small things to be relaxing!
Belladonna · 41-45, F
I'm calm and cool until everything's alright. Then, I break down.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Belladonna The shakes, I get them bad. It's part of the business..
Budwick · 70-79, M
What if it was something serious, like a mouse running across the kitchen floor and you're in bare feet?

THAT is an extreme emergency?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Budwick Put it this way - it would be the talk of the town on SW. People arguing, blocking, cussing each other out, leaving the forum...
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@CestManan it's just an example... I thought armed home invasion to be potentially extreme.
SW-User
I'm calm .and patient..it's part of my job

I'm cool, calm collected, it's actually my thing, everyone else is losing their minds and I can stand back and see what needs to be done

I probably would've been a good er nurse if only I was any good at science or blood, gore, death, etc🤣🤣🤣
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User I'm ok with throwing up after a close one. During, I'm just trying to work the problem.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@V00doo Training helps!
@GerOttman Maybe.

Ive worked with kids for 16 years, not much shocks me these days
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@V00doo sounds like good training to me!
