@Punxi I was born in Perth! But parents moved back to Sydney when I was 18 months old. You recorded the local radio show? Cassette - awesome , I did not realise you were that old :)
I think the landscape and climate does a bit to the person and people from different regions vary also as a result of environment, Australia is the same size as mainland USA - pretty big place.
But the spirit is passed on from community to deal with the adversities and build resilience - I suppose the landscape formed the spirit and souls of Australian back in colonial times - it had to begin somewhere, probably the ex penal colony of initial settlement has a bit to do with it also.

I've read about him. He impaled his enemies, the Turks, and left poles holding their bodies all along the roads IN to his kingdom. Nice guy. But he DID get the message across. The Turks stopped bothering him.
