Can you remember...

.... when time didn’t cost anything.

Mornings stretched like forever, afternoons smelled like sun and dirt, and the only thing SWe chased was light before it disappeared behind the trees.

No clock owned us.

No small talk drained us.

No quiet resentment traded for a paycheck in order to afford quilted shit paper and a box ah' drier sheets.

Damn...

Back then, life wasn’t something we had to afford....

...it was something we lived.

Even the couple of years of childhood before starting school (which introduced waking up at certain times, coming in from recess at x time, etc.) I still had TV off time, bedtime, “we have to be at Nana’s house by x time” time, etc. maybe this more applies to people who didn’t grow up with parents constantly watching the clock
