@Coralmist You're so welcome! And I understand very much. Ty for BC btw. I had an issue recently where I'd said on some lives that I didn't drink anymore and was immediately mocked for not being like everyone else and "thinking I'm better" when I never said anything like that. I come from a family who struggles with alcohol issues and drug issues and quitting was big for me. My partner also has never been a drinker. But people will drag you down bc your success reminds them of things they aren't doing. You weren't doing anything wrong, it just made them feel inadequate and I'm glad you see it and got away from it. You don't deserve that abuse. You deserve encouragement and support.

I think it helps me laugh at myself as opposed to feeling depressed over mistakes and such. Some of my favorite mistakes were learned lessons. you know, won't do that again! I have an existence so do you and all the others too. You're still here, I'm still here, just putting it to the man you know

@GerOttman Growing up being abused for tiny mistakes was awful... mentally or physically. So I became a perfectionist hoping to not make a mistake. In jobs, friendship etc. it's exhausting and it created a huge amount of anxiety. I'm so tired of constant self doubt, it's been crippling. I like your idea of just saying Hey won't do that again, and that's it. 🌼not wondering how bad I am because of a mistake. Thanks🌠

@Coralmist See I tended to go the other way. I didn't have the vocabulary to understand my situation but I knew I wasn't being treated right. Once I figured out that nothing I did was ever going to be right I quit trying. I kind of figured if I was going to be criticized anyway why bother trying. This of course resulted in a cycle of escalation on the part of my parents and increased refusal on mine. It wasn't until I got out that I found out I was actually good at stuff.

There’s a difference between confidence and conceit. You can be successful without being conceited.
If you’re going to ask me to do something that I’ve done many times before, of course I’m going to do it well.
What’s to be gained by allowing quitting as an option? That’s the worst thing you can do - quit on yourself.

Assuming people like you in interactions tempers your reactions to them and sometimes prevents conflicts and opens opportunities.

There's a difference between a positive view and a realistic view... To quote someone, the fool is positive about everything, the wise man is full of doubt

positive framing has rescued me from terminal harm
