Talking in class

12 yo's homework diary has been written in by two different teachers this week:

Geography: talking too much, listening too little
Maths: talking too much, being "silly" in class

I think I am expected to have a word with her about her behaviour over the weekend. I also think I am very badly qualified to lecture anybody on the perils of talking too much in class 😂

Awwwwww! 😭😭😭 Bless her heart! 💖💖💖 I would talk to her and explain kindly when it is fine to talk nonstop and when she has to listen! 🤗🤗🤗 Bless her kids are awesome so I'm not mad at all! 😝😝😝 Maybe talking to her will help as being harsh isn't always needed but she still needs to listen in school bless her sooo much! 😇😇😇 Saying that I think some teachers need more patience! 🙄🙄🙄 I hate being too strict on kids it makes me sad! 😭😭😭 But I hope she will try to listen better next week bless her! 💖💖💖

@MommyLucy Good advice 🙂 I will do so as soon as I can get a word in edgeways 🤣

@SunshineGirl Try telling her she can be a double chatterbox at home to make up for being quiet in school! 😝😝😝 Kids are the coolest! 😍😍😍

Let her know that not talking in class is out of respect for the teacher and her classmates. Plus it helps her focus and learn

In my early school years, I was one of those pupils who almost invariably had something to say... So many questions to ask, so many opinions to express. Towards my High School years, I became more reserved, more soft-spoken, more reticent. Nowadays, I find it pointless to say anything unless it's either crucial or profound.

That’s tough as each child is different. My oldest daughter was described by one of her teachers as “extremely social” and he continued to teach around her, as long as she wasn’t a distraction!!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Quimliqer "Extremely social" . . what a lovely euphemism!

I’d say to tell her there’s a time to talk and a time to listen and there will be consequences for misbehavior

You're in it for the sweet but also the sour, part of the j.o.b.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ineedadrink I'm up for all parts of the job 😁

You learn more by listening than by talking
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@sunshinegirl] 🤔 perhaps it is better too talk to her now and nip it in the bud before it becomes a real issue
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@smiler2012 Many before me have tried (and failed) to persuade my girl to pipe down a bit 😂
smiler2012 · 56-60
@SunshineGirl perhaps other ways are needed then 😆

Is it possible that she is bored because she is smart?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Jlhzfromep She's smart enough, but the talking is mainly her way of releasing energy when she is forced to sit still for longer than 5 minutes 🙂
Jlhzfromep · M
@SunshineGirl sometimes when things come naturally easy for kids they get bored but I can understand the sitting still thing too..
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl I'm energetic too so sitting down too long can be hard for me too unless I'm watching a Disney cartoon or having a big hug! 🤗🤗🤗

Blame the Grandpa
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MarineBob Yep, he's a chatterbox as well 🙂
