How/where do/Should men draw the line between a girl "playing hard to get" and her just Not being interested?

Confuses some men alot.....Sometimes a girl’s No could mean "try harder" i hear
shakemeup · 36-40
"just keep trying harder" and "playing hard to get" is a myth perpetuated by stories and movies that encourage the idea that harassment and not listening to a no is ok as long as she eventually breaks down and falls in love with you at the end of the movie. Because then all is forgiven.

But the truth is...it's not ok. Always respect someone saying no.

Because it's the right thing to do.

And in the off chance she is being dishonest and wants you and is lying to you...you probably don't want to get with someone like that anyway. Be with someone who wants you and shows you that.

@shakemeup does this extend to salespeople too?
shakemeup · 36-40
@pancakeslam absolutely.
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@shakemeup good because I would like my no to mean no
It's not that confusing. No means no. Just pick up a dictionary if you don't understand two-letter words.
@Convivial that's a different situation than what I commented on before, but it's another interesting one. She could have made the second guy interested in her only to disappoint him, she could have ended up with the original guy purely because of his jealousy rather than genuine interest in her, or both.

Both guys definitely dodged a bullet by not falling for her games, and hopefully she learned a lesson that hiding/faking feelings lead nowhere.

@Convivial exactly....Sometimes people only deal with whats ideal and turn a blind eye to the reality.....

People especially some girls do play games

Choose self respect. Don’t allow yourself to be used in anyone’s game. Make yourself the one hard to get and simply walk away. If she’s truly interested, she’ll make amends. If not, you just saved yourself some grief.

@carpediem thanks!

@SilentObZerver Advice is only worthwhile if you choose to follow it.

Honestly, a girl that plays games isn't worth your time... just like a man who's a player isn't worth a girl's time.

Narcissistic women hold up hoops for you to jump through and you can never quite please them in your attempts.
Narcissistic men think every woman is hot for them and need constant ego boosting
Neither of this is really attractive to decent people.

And if a decent woman says ,"no" she means it and trying harder could be preceived as stalking.

Corny as it is you have to be yourself the right person will like you.
No game playing required.

@Justmeraeagain really appreciate your post

@Justmeraeagain I completely agree. Games are silly, no matter who is the person playing them. Just be honest and upfront, I much prefer brutal honesty over games
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
These people here acting like you're not 100. 😂 Women are confusing af. If one rejects me, I'd just take it literally and if they didn't mean it that way then they should have been more honest.
Eternity · 26-30, M
The thing is,, someone who plays those kinds of games isn't worth pursuing anyway.

Best to take all indicators of disinterest at face value.
You have some very red flags
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
It's easy... If she says "No", you say "Thank you for your time" and move on to the next one.

If she's into all this "Chase me, chase me" bs, then she hasn't finished middle school yet - and you don't need to be around that drama.

@SW-User You're going to do well to find anyone who wants to be friends with you if you're approaching her with the attitude of...

Sometimes a girl’s No could mean "try harder"

When my wife and I were dating in college, she was at a different university and free to date others. She told them about me, but some guys were convinced she was just playing hard to get. She made a point to introduce them to me as "the one that I love." We shook hands and they stopped pushing her and just enjoyed being a friend with benefits.
exexec · 61-69, C
@SilentObZerver I can't talk about my girlfriend because she will see it.
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@exexec haha but she's gonna this, right?
exexec · 61-69, C
I only need to hear no once, that’s the good thing about having better options. 😂😂😂
pancakeslam · 41-45, M

Always a minefield

Just don’t give up
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@SW-User hmm thanks
Treat "no" like NO and you can’t go wrong. It’s 2024, if she’s interested she’ll find a reason to approach you.

Effort. If there’s effort without energy she’s usually playing hard to get. If it’s blunt and no effort at all then she’s not interested
When ANY girl and woman says no, IT FUCKING MEANS NO
