No but have been too close for comfort several times in my life. Yikes. My sister got bit by a copperhead snake when we were young and helping burn two huge brush piles that had been sitting out for about 2 months. We were dragging more branches to the pile as it was burning and that snake crawled out and bit her on the ankle. It very well could have been me because we were about 10 feet apart when it happened.

@NativePortlander1970 That is definitely true. Can't argue with that.

@Atlotto He had been calling and asking for it for over a month too. Could have turned him into to the IRS for that

My sneaker heel was bitten once. I didn't take it to the hospital...🤣🤣🤣 I was at a camp site looking for unused firewood left by previous campers, and the leaves and pine needles had drifted in and were thick on the ground. SOMETHING was under there, and I stepped on him.
When I was young I had a huge black snake coil up on me, and I froze. If my cousin hadn't come back and pulled me out of there I WOULD have been bitten.

Non venomous, a few times, I pick up everything...
Got a scratch on my thumb from a venomous snake when I was about 10 years old. I never told anyone because obviously I wasn't supposed to be catching venomous snakes and such.🤓😆 It made a very painful black spot that lasted about a week.

@4meAndyou That's what happened with bee and wasp stings. Bees are fascinating, so of course I'm going to follow them around.😆 Wasp larvae make excellent fish bait. Needless to say, I've been stung enough that my response is minimal.
I still check out wild bee hives when I find them, amazing little creatures.🤓

@UnderLockDown You are VERY brave! While I don't mind bees, and I have shopped for flowers and plants in nurseries lousy with busy bees, I would never go near a wild hive!

@4meAndyou They tell you ahead of time if it's okay. As you get closer they will head butt you if the hive is feeling aggressive. Too many bees bumping into you is the signal to stay away. Most of the time you can walk up close though.

Yes. Just once, and the snake was injured and in survival mode. Since I was trying to save the snake from further harm from my cat, I just grabbed him or her. It did hurt and bleed, but the snake was not a venomous one.
That snake was taken to a nearby wooded area, away from houses, after recovering overnight. It seemed fine, and quickly disappeared into the brush.

Yes, several times by nonvenomous snakes. I don't pick up venomous ones any more, although I did in the past.

If finally struck me where I heard a similar question - Bogart's drunken buddy Eddie (played by Walter Brennan in the 1944 movie "To Have and Have Not") asked every stranger he met this cryptic question: "Was you ever bit by a dead bee?"
